John Boehner: Let Senate get 'off their ass' this time By: Jake Sherman February 26, 2013 09:45 AM EST
House Speaker John Boehner told Republicans in a closed-door meeting Tuesday that the House doesnt need to pass a third sequester replacement bill before the Senate gets off their ass and passes it once.
Its a familiar refrain from the Ohio Republican, who has consistently criticized the Senate for failing to act to blunt the sequester. The call for the Senate to move legislation came at a meeting at the Capitol Hill club.
Its time for the Senate to act, Boehner said during a media availability after the meeting. Its not about the House. Weve acted. Wheres the presidents plan to avoid the sequester? Have you seen one? I havent seen one. All Ive heard is he wants to raise taxes again. Wheres the presidents plan? Wheres the Senate Democrats plan? I want to see it.
President Barack Obama plans to travel to Newport News, Va., on Tuesday to highlight the effect of the sequester on the military. He will be accompanied by several lawmakers, including Virgina GOP Rep. Scott Rigell.
House Republicans passed their plan to replace sequester cuts with cuts of their own in the 112th Congress, rendering it useless during this session. Boehner said his chamber will be prepared to move quickly if the Senate passes a bill.
Action in the upper chamber is coming. The Senate will vote on dueling plans this week designed to stave off the $85 billion, across-the-board spending cuts known that are set to take effect on Friday.
Senate Democrats plan to take up a bill that will replace the sequester with a mix of spending cuts and revenue, mostly garnered from a minimum 30 percent tax on millionaires....

Haven’t we been down this road? Rep Weepy talks all tough prior to the cave in? So predictable.
This coming from a guy who is always on his knees for Obama.
Oh, tough, sure, uh-huh.
Like he’s NOT going to completely cave THIS time.
Right.
I guess since he said ass, he is sending the message that he is really really really really really really really really really really mad this time.
Really.
Buh-bye Boehnhead.
In 2014 you`ll be minority.
TSK TSK TSK. Such Language. Unbecoming of the “dignified” position of Speaker of the House :)
Ha, that quote was the lead story on CBS radio news just now.
In other words, Boner-Boehner is just about ready to cave in and abdicate the House's role in setting spending priorities. Instead the cry baby will capitulate and quickly pass anything that Reid & the House demoRATs throw at him. What a f__kin asshole Boner/Boehner is!
Period.
At least Boehner is (apparently) on the right track now. The House has acted. When the sequestration cuts (hopefully) kick in, Boehner needs to have the backbone to stand firm and repeat - - a thousand times, if necessary - - "The House has acted. We are disappointed that Senate majority leader Harry Reid and the President STILL have not come up with their plans, and have instead allowed the Obama sequestration cuts to take effect."
Period.
Why don't we wait and see, first? Boehner has masterfully outmanuevered Ubama and the rats up to this point, so maybe he has a plan. Plus, McConnell and Boehner both seem to be on the same page re: "tax hikes" ie., "The tax issue is behind us now."
As long as they stick to that, the GOP wins.
Did you see this? (Now posted at Drudge):
Yea nancy pelosi will be in charge then. I can’t wait.
“Why don’t we wait and see, first?”
So please be specific in your answer. How mmany times do we have to sit through the exact same scenario before people decide that perhaps Bhoner is totally full of crap and caves like clockwork?
Most people learn after the first few times Luky pulls the football and their tongue sticks to the frozen light pole.
Yea nancy pelosi will be in charge then. I can’t wait.
A day or two later congress passed the same Bush tax cuts for 98% of taxpayers (everybody up to an income of $400,000) and this time they were made permanent (ie., no "sunset" provision). In other words, congress raised taxes on nobody.
Boehner stumbled along (or did he?) playing footsie with the African communist scumbag Ubama for a month during the so-called "fiscal cliff" negotiations, and appeared to nearly blow it twice, first by proposing "eliminating deductions and closing loopholes" - - as if that's not a massive tax hike - - and second by proposing something called "Plan B".
"Plan B" would have had the GOP House voting to raise taxes on upper income taxpayers since the vote would have occurred prior to the automatic "tax hikes" which took effect when the Bush cuts expired. Had "Plan B" been passed, the Democrats could have legitimately crowed forever about how the Republicans agreed with Democrats that taxes had to be raised. Republicans would never have heard the end of it, and it may have killed the party.
Somehow, Ubama talked himself out of going along with the first proposal, and the House conservatives killed "Plan B".
Astonishingly, the Republicans are now in a position where they have not only made the Bush tax cuts permanent for nearly everybody, but they can make the solid case, as Mitch McConnell already did, that the "debate over taxes is behind us now". After over a month of the issue dominating their television sets, no way do Americans want to hear about the Democrats coming back yet again to demand more taxes - - and even threatening a "sequestration cuts / end of the world" scenario over the issue.
The Republicans are sitting in the catbird's seat, no doubt about it. "The tax issue is behind us." Whether Boehner finessed his way there, or stumbled into it doesn't matter now - - the ball is most definitely in the Democrats' court, and everybody knows it. As long as Boehner sticks with that mantra, the ignorant chattering class will eventually notice that the rats have done nothing.
Is that specific enough for you? So yeah - - why don't you see what happens before you start wringing your hands and cursing Boehner again?
Sorry, I missed the part where you actually addressed, much less answered my question.
Interesting several paragraphs but no answer.
Your question was:
How mmany times do we have to sit through the exact same scenario before people decide that perhaps Bhoner is totally full of crap and caves like clockwork?
My answer was, essentially, that your question was the kind posed by a scumbag liberal newsroom mouse. Like David Gregory, for example. "When are you going to apologize for..(whatever)?"
In other words, your question is based on the premise that Boehner routinely caves. I believe that premise is incorrect. Maybe you could offer some context? Please cite a couple of instances where Boehner caved and it resulted in the rats getting what they want. Thanks.
You believe that my premise is incorrect?
I just don’t know how you draw breath in the morning without assistance. I sit is stunned amazement.
Not really because thats almost verbatim the same answer to that question I have gotten from several Freeper GOP apologists.
