Last month, the Senate Budget Committee reports that in fiscal year 2011, between food stamps, housing support, child care, Medicaid and other benefits, the average U.S. household below the poverty line received $168.00 a day in government support. Whats the problem with that much support? Well, the median household income in America is just over $50,000, which averages out to $137.13 a day. To put it another way, being on welfare now pays the equivalent of $30.00 an hour for a 40-hour week, while the average job pays $25.00 an hour.

The wind is blowing like crazy here and just took off part of the roof-----another unexpected expense we cant afford.Damn, GW is cruel isn't he. If he didn't attack those innocent Muslims in the Middle east, your roof would still be in pristine condition.
47 percenters in 11 of the 57 states...
Why would any one want to break their backs for $25.00 an hour? We have to make work more attractive than going on welfare - but I don’t expect that to change. Politicians want voters who’ll re-elect them.
Look for the welfare to keep on expanding.

The temps are mild, you can walk or take a bus most places, having a car is silly on Ohahu. EAt loads of rice and beans and remember that nobody who works for a living has heat or ac in their homes so the real cost of living is not that much. /laughing at the silly systmes that now run our american lives
Every day I am more and more thankful that I am close to retirement age. The next forty years are going to see a lot of unrest with the working class getting more and more screwed by the lazy/political class.
Time for me to cash out my IRA and buy a lot of gold, because the dollar is becoming more and more worthless by the day.
I couldn't agree more.
My post was a sarcastic devil's advocate post. If I were Obama, I'd try to disguise community organizing as workfare to harness the leeches for political gain. How about bus old folks to the polls for minimum wage credit added to your welfare account? Or, participate in political actions sponsored by "community groups?" I'm surprised they haven't tried something like this yet.
Be careful, sometimes I think they read this forum, and listen to Rush just to get ideas on different ways to stay forever in power.
It was an evil thought, wasn’t it?
