A perspective on our president from Down Under.
In Herman Wouks classic World War II novel, The Caine Mutiny, there is a moment when a group of the ships officers are getting away from the increasingly eccentric Captain Queeq by relaxing ashore.
Suddenly the malcontent Lieutenant Keefer asks the others: Does it occur to you that Captain Queeg may be insane?
In fact Queeg is not insane, at least not at that time. He is simply grappling, more and more disastrously, with a job too big for him. Come the crisis of a typhoon, he becomes paralyzed and nearly sinks the ship by failing to give the obvious orders.
Before this, the officers have searched the regulations for guidance, but the regulations refer only to a captain who is clearly and unmistakably insane, not one who is merely guilty of eccentricity and bad judgment.
Like Queeg, Obama shows an inability to change course when such a change is desperately needed.
What, exactly have things come to when a cockroach of a country, apparently run by real, certifiable lunatics, can threaten the United States with nuclear weapons? The typhoon waves are starting to break over the bridge.

Heh, hadn't thought about that one...
Insane? Nope, what's in here is pure evil.
My wife and I watched “The Caine Mutiny” this weekend, thanks to Netflix. I had always heard of the film, but I’d never seen it before Friday night.
Extending the allusion of Obama to Queeg points to an interesting direction. In the film, Queeg is a witness at the mutiny trial before the military court and starts off calm, relaxed, in control. Under the questioning of the attorney, however, his erratic and emotionally unstable nature emerges, something that even Queeg realizes in a sudden, sad moment. The court is silent; it looks like the mutineers were correct all along.
Then the climax, when everyone is singing and carousing in celebration, and the attorney appears. He describes the character assassination of Queeg as “shooting fish in a barrel,” and then moves on to eviscerate the rest of the officers as fools, incompetents, and ne’er-do-wells, before targeting the writer as the person who instigates the whole mess by thinking his hobby as a writer gives him insight into human nature. (It is always cool to see Ernie’s dad - Fred MacMurray - play the villain.) The lawyers asks if it would have really been all that awful just to follow regulations, help out their commander, and not bitch and carp about every petty detail. Finally, the lawyers throws the drink in MacMurray’s face, and everyone leaves him standing alone in the room.
The only reason I bring this up is that those of who dislike (and stronger) Obama can easily point out the man’s flaws, his weakness, his arrogance. We also run the risk of turning Obama into a figure of pity, someone who tried to do good things but wasn’t quite up to the job. Not that I believe that - I frankly think he’s a Castro or a Chavez wanna-be - but a successful prosecution could lead to that perception.
It was a good movie, except for the love interest subplot, which was dull beyond words. It was interesting to see Hawaii and Yosemite in 1954, too - unspoiled, untouched.
Over the course of human history there has been an endless stream of people who wanted to destroy their own government.
Until now all of them have had to good sense to stay the path of destruction WHEN THEY TAKE OVER THE GOVERNMENT!
Are you familiar with Obama's poem, "Pop"?
If not you may want to google it. You'll see that appellation is not only appropriate, but disturbingly so.
Ping
He is a self-admitted Lincoln/Kennedy wannabe.
I think he'll get his wish.
We'll get President Biden.
Biden will get Vice President Hillary!
She will become President Hillary! on or after January 21, 2015, making her eligible for two full elected terms thereafter, 10 years less one day of President Hillary!...

In that case, the proper film allusion would be “The Manchurian Candidate.” Hillary DOES look a lot like Angela Lansbury.
“Hillary Clinton is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.”
Yesterday one of the programs on C-SPAN featured Chris DeRose discussing his book on Lincoln as a Congressman. Lincoln's one term was during Polk's Presidency. Lincoln observed Polk run roughshod over Congress and DeRose thought that caused Lincoln as President to go out of his way to cultivate Congress and make them feel like they were included in the process.
In other words, as far removed from Obama's modus operandi as possible.
Actually, once you get past "skinny lawyer" and "resident of Illinois," it's hard to think of any ways that Lincoln and Obama are alike.
Yep. They are polar opposites, except in obama’s and the media’s PR.
Our once-proud nation is dead and gone - - the parasites outnumber the hosts and there's no going back. The Democrats have won.
Congratulations, America.
Totally agree. He is not an inept leader or simply in over his head. This is all done intentionally to destroy the United States. He hates the US and all it stands for. The big question is who has put him up to it and who controls him? How does a totally unaccomplished and cretin who gave a nice speech at at the 2004 DNC convention rise to POTUS?
Obama is Pinocchio, standing behind him is "Geppetto"
who may actually be a cabal of powerful men,
working secretly through their puppet.
Geppetto has the plan...
Obama gets the immediate spoils...
Geppetto gets to see the US economy crash
which will bring chaos to the world economy!
Why? Because they will inherit a "depopulated" world.

GtG
PS Old Chinese curse:
"May you live in interesting times!"
The optics would have been perfect, obama is no Jimmuh Carter, he can make these muzzies bend to (the pre-arranged treason) his will!
The terrorist would have gotten the blind sheik, obama would have gotten his election without massive voter fraud (Plan B).
As rodguy911 has speculated elsewhere, Once the terrorists hired by ozero encountered Woods and Doherty and lost 60 of their ilk they probably thought they had been double crossed and at that point did what they usually do to gay infidels.
Does anyone here think this is implausible?
I would disagree completely and wholeheartedly with the comparison between the Capt. Queeg character and Barack Obama.
It is hard to feel anything but sympathy for Queeg in the end. The lawyer Greenwald said it best: Queeg just cracked. The job had likely always been bigger than Queeg, but Queeg couldn’t face accepting that, and so, when the opportunities arose for command, he took them.
Queeg if real, would have undoubtedly been a patriotic naval officer.
I had the pleasure of watching “Twelve O’Clock High” recently after having seen it many, many years ago. I was struck by a parallel between General Savage and Captain Queeg, in that they both cracked. But Queeg did not have the luxury of good looks and a well of accomplishment, nor the people skills to change the perception of himself in the eyes of those he commanded. And likely not the professional naval skills as well. He was a plodder, who, as the lawyer Greenwald opined, had been manning the ramparts with little pay and no recognition while everyone else was yukking it up at college. Queeg may have once had some skills, but those were completely smothered by his personal faults when they came to the fore in the crucible of combat.
That is why, when General Savage cracked, his men understood, and in that poigniant scene, the man he himself had replaced undressed him and put him to bed with the tenderness of a bride of many years.
When Queeg cracked, his men turned on him like wolves. But as Greenwald saw with Queeg, and Colonel Keith Davenport saw with General Savage, they had nothing to be ashamed of. They just couldn’t take it anymore, like lots of good men in those situations.
In my mind, both fictional characters above were basically good men who simply couldn’t take it.
What I see in Barack Obama is 100% diametrically opposed to both of those men. He actively sought power, sold his soul along the way, ruthlessly destroyed those who got in his way, and most importantly, is no patriot. He harbors no love of this country past the power he has been able to gain to run it.
He actively wishes to destroy it and re-make it in the image of Bill Ayers and Saul Alinsky. If he succeeds, that won’t be America.
Funny. When I read this article, it both angered and offended me to even have this piece of crap in the White House spoken in the same sentence as a fictional character of a man like Captain Queeg.
It was an insult to a flawed, broken man like Queeg to even be compared. Even though he was fiction. And that is because it either intentionally or unintentionally inbues Obama and his situation with something that doesn’t belong there: sympathy.
