'The Afghan president has ordered US special forces to leave Wardak province within two weeks over allegations of disappearances and torture.

The measures were being taken due to the actions of Afghans considered to be part of US special forces, said a spokesman for Hamid Karzai.

The strategically significant, central province of Wardak has been the recent focus of counter-insurgency operations.

A US spokesman said it took all allegations of misconduct seriously.'

When you are on the wrong side of the Cold War and the Reagan defeat of the Soviet Union, you are just wrong.

In Afghanistan, we did bleed the enemy, and broke them, in the late 1970s and early 1980s many of us who were on top of things knew that we were close to WWIII, and that the Soviet Union had to make their play at the opportune time of 1984 to 1986, or else lose that window and have to wait for another window of opportunity, probably decades in the future.

The 1980s had no wiggle room to play with, we were engaged in a death struggle with a very real chance of America disappearing, it was a narrowly fought thing, and we squeaked out the greatest military defeat in history when we destroyed the Soviet Empire and broke the back of the Communist conquest of the globe.

Oh, please.... I served in the military through the entire Carter and Reagan administrations, so spare me your drivel about who’s on the “wrong side” of the Cold War.

I’m not disagreeing that we bled one of the enemies (the Soviets). My point was... we neglected to examine the potential consequences of siding with an entity whose ideology demands our total destruction.

Someday you might want to look into the Soviet Union and International Communism and global conquest and their ideology which demanded our total destruction, and their actual ability and plans to deliver that total destruction.

Already have, Ansel... many, many years ago. You might want to do the same vis-a-vis muslim doctrine.

Your posts are like something out of the Twilight zone.

Thank God you don’t have the power to travel more than 30 years back in time and protect the Soviet Union from President Reagan, if America still existed today, the Cold War Mexican Standoff would make dealing with Islam in any meaningful way, impossible.

The Communists would be in control of that part of the world, and much, much more, if the West even still existed.

If you are too blind to understand the strategic value of setting two of America’s enemies against one another, arguing with you is pointless.

Actually, that is your position, you wanted us to ally with the Soviet Union, preserving them and granting them Afghanistan and the Middle East, instead Reagan used everything he could to stop them.

Even a small-time turd like Karzai knows he can push Obama around. What a little schmuck our President is.
