Excerpt: A recently introduced bill in the Illinois state Senate would require anonymous website comment posters to reveal their identities if they want to keep their comments online.
The bill, called the Internet Posting Removal Act, is sponsored by Illinois state Sen. Ira Silverstein. It states that a web site administrator upon request shall remove any comments posted on his or her web site by an anonymous poster unless the anonymous poster agrees to attach his or her name to the post and confirms that his or her IP address, legal name, and home address are accurate.
Hey commie pig, my address is 1776 Come and Get Me Boulevard.
Dare not call it a conspiracy. Fat right there. We will tear each other to the bone with these Leftists in power.
Another *!@#ed ‘rat. I saw a CA rep rat on an earlier thread wanting a national tax on gun sales.
I really hate rats. We hates ‘em my Precious ...
Sounds like the neo-communists want to be able to NAME NAMES and blacklist and bring up on charges of being an enemy of their state.
Joe McCarthy was not a senator. He was a prophet.
I think I get where he’s coming from but no thanks Ira.
Get a rope!
The federalist papers were written anonymously. More and more the democrats become british.
How the hell do they enforce that? FR is in CA not IL.
Is there any part of the Bill of Rights the rats won’t crap on?
If there’s a more clear violation of the First Amendment, I haven’t seen it.
This will never fly.
I expect we will see this idiots personel information on line for all to see, dont you?
I've said it before on this forum - Joe McCarthy wasn't wrong - he was just early.
This could have a silver lining. All we have to do is get Obama to post online, then we can use this law to find out who he really is.
It’s funny how so much legislation seems to be written to get revenge against the last thing that pissed off some representative.
This can only apply to web sites hosted in Illinois and there aren’t many because there is is not much hosting that is based there. Moreover, hosting is a cutthroat business and it is soooo easy to move a web site to a more free jurisdiction.
There may come a time when in order to be able to speak freely, many web sites will be based outside of the Land of the Used To Be Free.
For example: http://www.ccihosting.com/ (Equipment located on a former US military base)
It would eventually evolve to include “besmirching” The Religion of Peace.
