It's a crying shame. When I worked, I used to visit Vegas 2-3 times a year. I love the city, not just the gambling and the flashy shows, but just the structure, the people, the climate, the favorable tax laws. Had aspirations of retiring there someday. Now I'm glad I didn't make the move. The city is turning into Chicago.
There's our new meme...LAS VEGAS...AMERICA'S NEXT CHICAGO...
OH, so true. I live in the LA area and used to visit Vegas at least every other month — loved the shopping, the cheap buffets, walking on the strip, going to shows, gambling a bit at the slots.
It is a very different place now. I have a 21 year old daughter who has NO sense of danger or caution, she and her 21 year old friend wanted to run all over the strip in and out of the casinos, visit everywhere. I was really worried, it’s not the same town as when I was 21 and running up and down the strip was perfectly safe. Luckily, she and her friend got caught up on the penny slots and the lounge act in the hotel and didn’t leave the area.
There is a very very rough element in Las Vegas now, even in the nicest areas. As a kid my family and I used to stay at Circus Circus, now, I don’t even set foot in that place.
