(RINO Saboteur) Bolling - It's A Challenging Time To Be A 'Mainstream' Republican In Virginia
WMAL.com ^ | February 21, 2013 | John Matthews

Bill Bolling swears he hasn't decided whether he'll run for Governor of Virginia, but in a mostly one-sided conversation with WMAL's Mornings On The Mall Thursday, the incumbent Lt. Governor sounded an awful lot like a candidate aiming for middle-of-the-road votes.

"There are a lot of what I'll call more 'mainstream' Republicans like me that are just not real happy with the current leadership and direction of our party," said Bolling. "I think in this particular race in Virginia this year, there's a lot of uneasiness out there with the candidates of both of the major political parties, so that certainly creates an opportunity for a more independent voice, and we're assessing that carefully," he added.

Bolling noted that he is considering three options - remaining in the Republican party, where he could work to reform from within; running for Governor as an independent candidate, or to, in his words "turn the page" and walk away from Virginia politics after 22 years.

When Mornings On The Mall co-host Larry O'Connor pressed Bolling to explain why he didn't just take on Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli directly for the GOP nomination, Bolling said he intended to do that, until party leaders opted to choose the nominee by convention, rather than by primary.

"Unfortunately, our party leadership was essentially overtaken by the Tea Party groups and the Ron Paul folks, and they voted to change the rules in the middle of the campaign," he said. "The party has just been taken over by voices that are not just more conservative, but they are ideologically-driven and are more ideologically rigid," he added.

Follow-up from last night's thread:

Virginia Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling: Finally free to speak out against GOP’s shift to right

He's a sour grapes losing RINO, and is determined to undercut Cuccinelli and let Clinton crony Terry McAuliffe win.

And his statement about how McDonnell won in 2009 is an outright lie...McDonnell ran as a solid Conservative and was swept into office by the TEA Party movement. Now that he's thinking about running for President in 2016 too (despite hitching himself to Romney's doomed ship), he's become very squishy lately, especially on tax increases.

Here's RINO Bolling, who admitted yesterday that he lied about his principles in 2009 just to get elected.

From yesterday's Compost article on the same topic:

"Isn’t Bolling effectively conceding that in the past he hid his concerns about the GOP from voters? Well, yes.

“The unfortunate truth is when you are a political partisan, you are always worrying in the back of your mind about how your comments and actions are going to be perceived,” he said.

The man's a liar.

Just as you said, Bolling is trying to take votes from Cuccinelli and so Terry McAuliffe wins...I am still waiting for him to run as a 3rd party (independent)since that private meeting he had with McAuliffe............

Timber, many of us (myself included) hooked up and signed on to the doomed Romney ship. I lost credibility because of doing such. I pray I can survive this freezing water long enough to get back on-board the good ship Conservative and help with the cannons, if allowed. May not make it but am still treading water. Not asking to be welcomed on-board the good ship Conservative for I believe to ride on that ship is a privilege which has to be earned. Not many out there are willing to earn their way these days. It is always easier to have someone else do it. Sounds harsh but I should have to make it out of the freezing water alone because I chose to ride on the Romney ship. It sunk. Now will try to swim to prayerfully to safe harbor to write respectfully, truthfully, comprehensively, and with a will to do battle for the good ship Conservative, never retreat, and never surrender. Mistakes made should be remedied by those having made the mistake. Maybe is harsh but lessons must be learned. To earn is to learn.

I pray the Conservative people in Virginia win. Another prayer there will be enough Conservative voters voting to bring home Virginia. Virginia has been held hostage for too long by those seeking Virginia’s destruction.

He is not a RINO. He is, indeed, a mainstream Republican. That is what the party has become. It has joined the Progressives’ mainstream as a side current to the main Democrat flow. So long as conservatives persist in trying to divert that stream they will continue to lose. They are not fighting a portion of the Republican Party, they are fighting the Democratic Party ruling class in which the Republicans have mad themselves a subsidiary.

I bet he is counting on Democrat big money to defeat any conservative Republican opponent in the primary. What a swine.

Bill’s claim is a lie: “Unfortunately, our party leadership was essentially overtaken by the Tea Party groups and the Ron Paul folks, and they voted to change the rules in the middle of the campaign”

The old State Central Committee of RPV was run by moderates who like Bolling and voted A YEAR EARLY to give him a Republican primary so democrats could vote for Bolling (a la John Warner style) to beat Cuccinelli, the conservative.

The recently-elected SCC is more conservative and overturned that decision, giving us a Convention instead, which will save the VA taxpayers about $3M.

Bolling needs to start telling the truth.

He should walk away, he is finished in Virginia. Maybe he could get a job in the Obama Whitehouse.

Ditto. Cuccinelli is a great conservative leader and would be a great conservative governor. He’s a straight shooter and tells it like it is.

Got it. Check Angelo Codevilla’s piece in Forbes online yesterday. He explains why the Republican Party cannot survive in its present form as a satellite of the Democrat DC machine.

Per my #6, it looks like Bolling has cut a deal with McAuliffe to undercut Cuccinelli, probably in exchange for another high level job in the Commonwealth’s government.

FRiend, when Romney got the nomination, a lot of us went ahead and supported him because doggone near anybody would be better than the a**clown in the White House now. I still believe Mitt is a good and decent man who really had no chance in 2012.

Was he my first choice? No. Would I vote for him in the general election again (against Obambi or Hitlery)? Sure.

I just hope Bolling does not turn traitor and help McAwful get elected!
