I was surprised by Limbaugh’s show today.
Almost had the feeling he was going to call it quits, it was just odd.

The call from the guy Julian (I think he said), was a breath of fresh air, however.

LIMBAUGH: For the First Time in My Life, I Am Ashamed of My Country

Me too, Rush. The majority of Americans voted for lawlessness.

I’m ashamed of 51% of my country.

Floppy Ears never heard the saying, “be careful what you ask for, you may get it”. He did and now he’s trying the “throw a tantrum” act.

He is late to the party.
I felt it in 96? when bubba murdered over 3,000 Christian men, women and children from 30,000 feet.

Obama would not have won if the Dems didn't pander to the gay vote. The next time my Dem dad gets in my face about any left issue I'm just going to ask him if he thinks God is happy with the idea of gay marriage.

If it wasn't for the Gay vote Obama wouldn't be president.

I know there are plenty of other issues where the Dems are on the wrong side of God but for the moment this seems like the biggest one.

Rush is looking at all of this from a macro perspective and it’s hard to argue about what he says from that viewpoint.

But, that’s not the reality from a micro level. I help run a small defense company that provides services, we don’t bend metal, build missiles, or any of that.

Here’s how a 10% defense cut affects us. First, the government has been working on a Continuing Resolution for 5 months. That means that agencies have been spending at last year’s rate, so a 10% cut becomes 15-20% in government land. Then, not all programs are created equal. Military pay, personnel services, and various pet rocks are off limits, so the parts that are left are going to see a 30-40% cut.

Some programs would require more money to shut down than continue. If the government shuts down an assembly line, for example, the contract often requires them to pay shut down costs and eat existing parts inventory and government provided items. You don’t do that for a short term budget cut.

Finally, those who control the dollars, prioritize the things that they do and attempt to preserve the most essential. Utilities, IT services, other overhead has to be paid unless you can shut down entire buildings - a tough thing to do. All of this adds another 10-15% to the functions that can be cut.

We currently have 90 employees. Four years ago, we had 50, and worked like hell to grow to 90 knowing that things would get tough in the defense business. We will likely go back to 50 this year which means that 40 people are going to be out of work and these are all skilled engineers, computer programmers, professional technical workers, and skilled administrators. The contracts that give these folks their jobs can be terminated with a phone call, but it will take months and perhaps years to put them back in place. The 40 people who lose their jobs will not find replacements for 1 year or more, perhaps never.

That picture will be repeated in hundreds of small companies and will have a significant impact on the economy, far more than just a 10% cut, evenly and logically applied might have. 10% is just a bump in the road and everyone in the private sector through salary adjustments, benefit plan adjustment, cutting costs, etc. Such a cut might not mean any loss of jobs, or perhaps only a few. But, a 50% cut will cut the size of our company in half. We’ll survive, but many small businesses will not.

All of this for a political stunt by Obama and his intransigence in finding a solution. Of course, he wants all brakes on government spending to be turned off, which we cannot do. But what he is doing is going to be an economic tsumami and he and the press are working overtime to have it all blamed on Congressional Republicans in order to turn the 2014 election in their favor.

The country is going to pay for all of this, perhaps with a federal government firmly in the hands of Democrats. If that happens, the consequences will be dire.
