Mindy McCready, who hit the top of the country charts before personal problems sidetracked her career, has died. She was 37.
Waren Olmstead, the coroner in Cleburne County, Ark., said in a statement McCready died Sunday apparently of a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound. An autopsy is pending.
Just last month David Wilson, McCreadys boyfriend and the father of her 9-month-old son Zayne, was found dead on the same porch where McCready's body was found. His death also was investigated as a suicide.
McCready entered court-ordered rehab earlier this month after her father told a judge she was no longer taking care of herself or her children and was abusing drugs and alcohol. Her sons were put in foster care at the time, but it's not clear where Zander and Zayne were at the time of McCready's suicide.

In the mid 90’s she had a few hits, “Ten Thousand Angels”, “Guys do it all the time”, she alos dated Dean Cain back then.
“I foresaw music becoming vapid pop with the emergence of MTV and other forms of music videos.”
You got that right, no wonder pressure was put on singers such as McReady that it ends up breaking them, having to look more Beyonce in dress.
See that was it, so few hits that I forgot.
Poor woman. How sad.
Very sad for her children and her parents. It seems as if they tried everything in their power to save her from herself until her oldest child was exposed to her erratic behavior and drug use. Her Mother gained custody of that child (age 5) setting off a firestorm in the press.
I wasn’t surprised to hear this last night. I wasn’t surprised when I heard of Whitney Houston’s death. I won’t be surprised when I hear the news of Lindsey Lohan’s demise.
I endorse that observation. That was also my experience.
She was a train wreck that the press loved to write about. Think of Linsey Lohan but McCreedy’s parents actually tried to save her rather than exploit her.
For those who haven’t seen the stories on her in the press over the past 2 years, she suffered depression for many years (before her brush with fame), she had a sex tape (surprise!), dated Roger Clemens for 10 years beginning as a teenager and lost custody of her 5 yr old son due to her drug use and crazy behavior. She also had a 10 month old baby with the boyfriend who killed himself last month.
The meaning of “taking up your cross daily” is not lost upon us, that is for sure. He knows he cannot do this by himself, so he works every minute of everyday to give this addiction over to God. The transformation is remarkable, but it is fragile. Like he always says, the bar is the same distance away for him as it is for everyone else who wrestles with addictions.
Not surprised, the focus now is on looks than talent.
What is going to happen to her children? Foster care?
She ought to burn in Hell if they end up there.
To the contrary, I think there was some incredibly vibrant and interesting music that emerged in the 80's, roughly coincidental to the onset of MTV. IMHO, music entered a real tailspin in the early 90s, about the time MTV stopped actually playing music videos.
Rock music DIED after the 70s. Music videos are part of that. MTV started it then it was farmed out to other music video channels.
There is something missing in people’s makeup that requires a video input to enjoy music. Music is audio. Some of the best artists back in the day were ugly as sin and never would have made it into the industry had their looks been factored in.
