How fun that you two can play together....avoiding Carnival might be a good idea for a while. d:o)
Of course, there is some traditional “teaching” involved, but I always made my greatest musical leaps when playing in a band. I try to replicate this experience by playing bass with my guitar students and throwing them solos!
