One issue that always boggles my mind is that the idea that a gun is a defensive weapon, that is a myth. A gun is not a defensive weapon. A gun is an offensive weapon used to intimidate and show power. Police officers dont carry a gun as a defensive weapon to defend themselves or their other officers

He’s kind of a douche, isn’t he...?
Isn’t the best defense a good offense?
A lot of cops feel the same as this clown.
Mr Mayor, immaterial. Your opinion doesn’t matter. The constitution is quite clear: SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. You can decide a sword or a knife or a gun is something bad, but they are still absolutely and completely protected by the constitution.
I’m unclear on the concept here Chief. You and your officers wear guns. And you do this for what reason?
what a fool
As I pointed out on the last thread. Emeryville is located between Oakland and Berkeley and doesn’t reflect the views held in my part of the state.
The citizens of Emeryville should demand a new police chief. If this man disagrees with one Amendment, what others does he disagree with?
This man just said those officers of his are not there to defend anyone with their guns, they are there to intimidate.
How nice, and this guy is still employed?
This guy is a moron and an embarrassment to any self respecting LEO.
Emeryville is Barbara Lee/Nancy Skinner country. These people despise the Constitution, they despise anyone who tries to defend it.
They have the chief they deserve.
So he’s advocating the use of chainmail and mace as defensive weapons?
I have no idea what this moron is saying...
There are a lot of questions this man needs to answer. Unfortunately, the media won't asked them, and unless he is called in for a deposition at some point, no one else is going to ask them either.
I would like to ask the Chief, that in light of his views on why the officers carry guns, if perhaps Christopher Dorner would have been an ideal officer in Emeryville.
Someone should market Candy Drones and Gummie Goons, probably make a fortune selling them online
It’s my new business proposal... any idea on how to make candy? lol
I can boil water. Beyond that, there are no guarantees.
Darn it. I want someone else to do all the work and just give me 1% for the idea.
If he were forced to explain what he’s talking about, his head would explode. The dude is scary stupid.
For any serious LEO, watching this democrat-party puppet with a badge must be torture.
Emeryville is like a postage stamp next to Oakland. I used to work there and my co-workers would try to get me to go out to lunch on San Pablo Ave.
Even in the daytime I wasn’t that stupid.
There aren’t too many places to live there, but if I did, I’d be armed to the teeth.
