Thank goodness they have decided not to prosecute. After all we all know how many lives have been taken by 'military' assault shovels. /sarc

****After all we all know how many lives have been taken by ‘military’ assault shovels. /sarc ****

I was taught in survival school (USAF) that the small shovel was a better weapon for close encounters than an axe.

I’ve read that the shovel was also a better arm for use in trench warfare if the enemy gets in your trench.

If you watch the old ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT you will see them defend an invasion of the trench with shovels.

The military shovel (Entrenching Tool) makes an excellent weapon if you know how to use it.

The Russian Spetznaz use one that comes with sharpened edges and point for hacking and throwing.

The shovel was brought into the school from a car in the parking lot, by an eighth-grade student at the request of his teacher. Neither are being criminally charged...

What the Hell is wrong with the principal, the PD, and the DA up there? Why aren't they being charged? It's a very serious allegation, carrying a "military-style" folding shovel. Who knows how this could have ended if they weren't caught. Book 'em, Danno!

This is beyond stupid. A folding shovel?!!

I’m grateful this didn’t happen in LA. Some students may have been shot.

This is nothing to joke about.

It was a semi-automatic assault shovel with a folding stock, er, handle.

It could be easily reloaded simply by pushing it into the ground.

We need to pass a law making schools “Shovel-Free Zones”.

That’ll fix the problem.

” Neither are being criminally charged”
Kind of them for not ruining the lives of innocent people.

Overreacting is as stupid as underreacting.

The media loves to promote anxiety. They live for it.

Why isn’t the press reporting if the kid took a drink of water while carrying the assault shovel? That should at least double his prison term.

Since the same nitwit school administrators who cannot tell the difference between an entrenching tool and an assault rifle are also designing these "lock down" policies, it causes me to wonder about how effective these lock downs really are in protecting students. From what reports I have seen about the Sandy Hook school shootings the shooter may have shot his way through a locked glass door to gain entry to the school. If that were the case there should have been time to initiate an emergency lock down and call 911. The lock down at Sandy Hook obviously failed as the shooter was able to gain access to classrooms.

Perhaps it would be better if law enforcement and security professionals were designing the school security and lock down policies rather than school bureaucrats and that these policies be realistically tested.

The costs of this fiasco/snafu should be tabulated and presented to the genius that called in the hoax. Demand full repayment

By the time you load a building full of seemingly-mature chicks purporting to “teach” young skulls full of mush and put yet another chick in charge, crap is bound to happen
