The third point Trump made was perhaps the most devastating: They took $400 million of money that people put up to fight and they made the worst ads Ive ever seen. The hundreds of millions in television ads Crossroads ran during the 2012 election had virtually zero impact. Donors trusted Rove to produce ads that were both innovative and effective and they got neither. Weak ads from one state to the next were placed on television and they failed miserably. $400 million was wasted, Trump went on to say.
Rove is totally out of touch with the way politics need to be fought today. He fights the game like it is 1996.
Rove may have been conservative once, but I think he hit that change point where his pocketbook took over and the tendency to play the middle for financial gain took over.
Trump is dead on here. The CR-GPS ads were bland, vanilla, and seemingly designed to get people to reach for the remote. Commercials for Metamucil were more moving and inspirational. They must have been focused grouped with an eye toward registering no emotional appeal whatsoever. And they also took away all the oxygen for other groups that could have done a better job.
BTTT!
