One of the most intriguing sideplots from Senate Republicans successful filibuster blocking Chuck Hagel from becoming Defense Secretary was that one of the GOP ringleaders was recently tagged by critics as someone who shared his more-isolationist worldview.
But freshman Kentucky senator Rand Paul, who openly talks about his presidential ambitions for 2016, is playing the long game and his politically savvy positioning suggests hell be a major national player. Unlike his father, hes not interested in pursuing ideologically charged issues just for the sake of making a point, hes learning how to make an impact in Washington.
One senior Republican leadership aide gushed with admiration over the freshman senator, emphasizing that hes been able to tailor his libertarian ideology toward legislation that holds broader appeal. The adviser touted his involvement on right-to-work legislation, his call to audit the Federal Reserve, and even his leadership on legalizing industrial hemp legislation first pushed by his father, which has now won support from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Rand is somebody who has the generational know-how to turn it into 21st century machine. He gets branding. He understands theres a need for credibility, said the adviser. He understands he doesnt have the answers to everything. Hes not afraid of input, but is totally confident in listening to input to help achieve his goals.

I like Paul/Walker.
He won’t play second fiddle to Rubio so that’s out of the question. He don’t want to be vp
Beats la raza Rubio
Beats la raza Rubio
Just as long as he doesn’t take a drink of water!
The Neo Cons will attack Rand with a viciousness worse than they had for Sarah
And we know why don’t we....
Exactly. I have stated repeatedly that I truly do not expect to see another real federal election in my lifetime. There may be some sort of show, but, even if Obamusollini is not emperor for life, some other Soros choice will infest the White House next.
In recent articles Paul is now supporting Illegal Alien Amnesty....using the canard “we must rethink about Immigration”. He is now supporting Amnesty.....I would link the articles however I am on my Smart Phone and time constrained
[ I heard Cheney was asked who he considers the next up & coming people to watch in the party and he excluded Rand Paul.
That fact alone makes me sit up and take notice of him. ]
That really makes me want to disown cheney RIGHT NOW!!!
The Bushies are scared stiff of Rand Paul.
Good news!
Ted Cruz is the man.
I’d still back him over anyone else in the field, currently. Unfortunately, I noticed the lack of enforcement of current law and frog-marching those who aid and abet.
Though, I’d love to see my ‘Equality Under the Law Act’ passed first: ‘There shall be no exemptions, by exclusion or omission, from any Law or regulation by any entity in or of the boundaries of these United States.’
Paul’s dad was a petty cult leader trying to maintain a lifestyle, Rand is a politician and political leader.
