A Way for Your Voice to be Heard at Speaker Madigan's Public Hearings on Proposed Right to Carry and Other Gun Issues.
Public Invited to Speak and/or File Witness Slips
Speaker Mike Madigan has called for two public hearings for Illinois residents to voice their support or opposition to proposed Right to Carry legislation.
This is an opportunity to speak out against a Chicago-style carry law and in support of a fair and reasonable law. It is also an opportunity to speak against firearm and magazine bans and other firearm related issues. Please plan to attend one of these meetings and make your voice heard. Seating will be limited so plan to arrive early.
If you cannot attend, please go online and file a witness slip for Feb.19 hearing showing your support or opposition to key firearm related issues. Link for Feb. 22, 2013 hearing.

Staff report
7:16 p.m. CST, February 13, 2013
A University of Illinois at Chicago staffer has been placed on administrative leave after she brought a legally purchased handgun to work because she didn’t want to leave it at home while her house was being renovated, a UIC spokesman said.
A judge set bail at $25,000 Wednesday for Kathleen Loviscek, 55, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. She is expected in court again on Feb. 19.
Loviscek, of Westmont, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a felony, said UIC spokesman Bill Burton.
There was no apparent intent or threat, Burton said. It was never brandished nor was it loaded.
Wow. I’m speechless. So many words come to mind, but I can’t use any of them in a family friendly forum. I should probably brush up on the relevant law, because I have a feeling we are going to start having more if this kind of harassment, even after we get cc.
Isn’t interesting that the only Illinois residents considered worthy of this Democrat meeting are, as they are called - “hunters”.
Illinois lawmakers to meet gun violence victims
CHICAGO Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon says the group of lawmakers she’s put together to study firearms will meet with families impacted by gun violence.
Simon assembled the Firearms Working Group last month. Members include about a dozen freshmen Illinois legislators.
On Friday Simon plans on having members of the group meet with parents who have lost children in shootings. The meeting will be at Saint Sabina Church on Chicago’s South Side, which is led by the Rev. Michael Pfleger. The priest is a staunch gun-control advocate.
Members of the working group plan to meet with people on all sides of the firearms debate, such as police, hunters and domestic violence prevention advocates.

Illinois: House Judiciary Committee to Hold Hearings on Gun Control Legislation
Contact Committee Members Immediately and Attend These Hearings
On February 19 and 22, the Illinois House Judiciary Committee will hold hearings to discuss comprehensive gun control legislation. We urge all Illinois residents to attend these hearings and urge legislators to oppose anti-gun legislation that does nothing more than penalize law-abiding gun owners by restricting the right to self-defense. It is important that you plan to testify at these hearings and stand up for the Second Amendment in Illinois. You can sign a witness slip to testify for either hearing date here. The House Judiciary Committee may be limiting the amount of testimony they will hear, so it is important that you register your opinions with the online witness slip as soon as possible.
Dates, times and locations for both House Judiciary Committee hearings are listed below:
Tuesday, February 19th at 12:00 NOON
Room 114 Capitol Building in Springfield
Friday, February 22nd at 10:00 AM
Room N-600 Bilandic Building in Chicago
Please contact members of the House Judiciary Committee and urge them to oppose all anti-gun legislation. Contact information for House Judiciary Committee members is provided below:
Me confused.
Do we fill one witness slip period?
Or,
One witness slip for each of the two meetings?
I have read at the Illinois carry forum you can do one witness slip for each session. Unless and until I can get confirmation of that, I’m just doing the one for Springfield. I don’t want to muddy the waters with what might be the equivalent of multiple voting (even if it is Chicago).
If you cannot attend either of these meetings, they please complete an on-line witness slip for each meeting by going to these two sites:

Full alert from ISRA follows:
URGENT ALERT YOUR ACTION REQUIRED
FREEDOM UNDER FIRE THIS WEEK IN SPRINGFIELD
CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVES AND COMPLETE WITNESS SLIPS
The Illinois House Judiciary Committee has announced a pair of hearings on proposals to eliminate 2nd Amendment rights here in Illinois. Information on these two committee hearings is as follows:
1. Tuesday, 19 February, at Noon in Room 114 of the State Capitol Building, Springfield.
2. Friday, 22 February, at 10:00 AM, Room 600, Bilandic Building, 160 North LaSalle St., Chicago
During each of these hearings, committee members will be debating just how they plan to eliminate private firearm ownership in Illinois. They will certainly be discussing means to ban and confiscate 85% of the firearms currently owned by Illinois citizens. They will also be discussing how to confiscate magazines holding more than 10 rounds. Other topics of debate will also include universal licensing and registration, shutting down gun shows, and restricting concealed carry.
It is critically important that law-abiding firearm owners flood both committee meetings. Otherwise, anti-gunners will take control of the meetings with disastrous results for freedom loving citizens. Be sure to get to the meeting rooms at least a half hour early to ensure that you get a seat. Be sure to wear IGOLD shirts and hats. If you see members of the media there, approach them and tell them you are a law-abiding gun owner and you do not support further gun control.
If you cannot attend either of these meetings, they please complete an on-line witness slip for each meeting by going to these two sites:
http://my.ilga.gov/WitnessSlip/Create? committeeHearingId=10447
and

Contact your representative in the Illinois House and urge him or her to join you in not supporting any further gun control in Illinois. This is especially important if your representative has changed since the last election.
Are you not sure who your representative is? The Illinois State Board of Elections has a new interactive search page here:
www.elections.state.il.us/DistrictLocator/DistrictOfficialSearchByAddress.aspx
Keep in mind that your rights are under sustained attack! We cannot let up on our defense of the 2nd Amendment. It is highly critical that you let these committee members know how you feel.
HERES ADDITIONAL THINGS YOU NEED TO DO TO SAVE YOUR GUNS:
1. Give copies of this alert to all your friends, neighbors and relatives. Tell them to follow the instructions carefully.
2. Post this alert to any and all Internet blogs or bulletin boards to which you belong.
3. Join or Renew your membership to the ISRA. Also, a monetary donation would help us greatly in our fight to preserve and protect your right to keep and bear arms.
REMEMBER: Gun control is a disease, you are the cure.
