A group of students at a California high school basketball game were told to remove patriotic bandanas and stop chanting USA, USA because school administrators wanted to be sensitive to other spectators.
The incident occurred during a basketball last week between Camarillo High School and Rio Mesa High School in Ventura County.
A school administrator pulled aside four boys and told them to either remove their American flag bandanas or leave the game. The boys complied but returned to lead the crowd in a chant of USA, USA.
Camarillo High School principal Glenn Lipman told the Ventura County Star that the students were told to remove the bandanas as a precaution because the two schools have diverse student bodies.
Both schools have a large Hispanic student population.
Student Austin Medeiros and the other boys were suspended for their actions but the punishment was later lifted by school officials.
Still, students are upset over what happened and staged a protest at the schools flagpole by wearing red, white and blue.
Weve done it always, Medeiros told the Ventura County Star. Its something we do. Its the same group of friends. Were all very patriotic.

If our legislatures and courts will not approve vouchers, why don’t parents and supportive citizens just create “Negative Vouchers”.
The school systems all seem to be scrambling to count every head so they get all the Federal grant money. Move enough kids to private schools and the grant money dries up, admin staff is laid off, perhaps even someone at the Board of Education will get a clue?
Wealthy conservatives, cut your tax liability by funding a scholarship to send a kid to a decent school!
Just a thought.
What I love best about this incident is that apparently the principal just assumes the Hispanics don’t consider themselves Americans.

“Enough abuse has been heaped on us already.”
Yup.
You patriot parents in this school district need to show up at the next school board meeting - by the thousands - and demand that this administrator be fired. Pronto!
You people are losing your children to fascists who hate America. Organize now or lose your children forever. If you need help to organize, go to your local VFW, American Legion and 1stMarDiv Association. I can guarantee you that the leftists are terrified by veteran groups and will cave to your demands. You have power if you organize. Use it.
So do they have another name in mind by which to refer to the country known as the United States of America since our existence? I bet they do.
vouchers?
Eric Holder was arguing that banning homeschools doesn’t violate our rights!
Heh. The name looked like Greek to me. Anyway, in his case, it’s not an American name.
aztlan, or reconquista...
That’s racist to assume the Hispanic students don’t love their country.
Yep, you beat me to it. My sentiments exactly.
Surely you jest. The LaRAZAites are never stopped from chanting that. "Diversity" is the reason. We simply can't chant anything about OUR country -it might offend them.
Strange, I thought Kalifornica was in the USA.
Stuff It. It’s America, not Mexico or Spain or Central America.
I think that people who are perpetually afraid of offending someone are called pussies. Metrosexual nerds or Eunuch for short.
The student mentioned has the last name “Medeiros” - isn’t that a name of Spanish origin, and isn’t he therefore, “Hispanic?” So what exactly is the “racial overtone” to his chant of “USA, USA?” If the school administration has a problem with the young man’s patriotism, they should be required to give a full explanation - and a bunch of arm-waving about “overtones” doesn’t cut it.
California is soooo finished.
It has been conquered by political correctness and occupied by Mexico. I am so glad I escaped from that shit hole almost 35 years ago. It was paradise at one time, but the f***ing liberals destroyed it.
Without reading the whole article, I knew right away the students were from Camarillo HS. I grew up in Ventura County. Good for them, and boo to the principal and the superintendent.
Madeiros isn’t Spanish, it’s Portuguese.
