In urban areas, police departments are opting for the ‘shadowhawk’. Its a helicopter...no need for any special launch site.

They have cameras in them...Texas is considering rubber bullets and tear gas...

...the shawdowhawk can easily be armed with a shotgun, and is used this way against pirates right now.

So essentially, the only thing that keeps a cop from putting a shotgun in the shadowhawk is...well nothing but his morals.

I have no idea if putting a shotgun in a mount is considered ‘installed’ in government speak...I suspect it isn’t.

I have no training in the physics of ballistics but I imagine the effective range of a shotgun is enhanced considerably if it is shooting down from above. Accelerating 00 buck to muzzle velocity and then allowing gravity to assist could allow the drones to fly completely out of return fire range and still pose an effective threat. But what do I know?
