BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. As police scoured mountain peaks for days, using everything from bloodhounds to high-tech helicopters, the revenge-seeking ex-cop they wanted was hiding among them, holed up in a vacation cabin across the street from their command post.
It was there that Christopher Dorner apparently took refuge last Thursday, four days after beginning a deadly rampage that would claim four lives.

He never emerged from the ruins and hours later a charred body was found in the basement of the burned cabin along with a wallet and personal items, including a California driver's license with the name Christopher Dorner, an official briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation.

Do they give out discharge certificates from the reserves or just the 214? I’m not sure how the reserve side works. I have a buddy who just stopped going to drill. I don’t think he got anything.

Maybe the cops on the East Coast would have “apprehended” this guy, but I don’t think these cops anticipated using their handcuffs.
Drudge has a report that the final assault using tear gas and vehicles was carried out by the LAPD SWAT. Why was LAPD given that role. San Bernadino and CHP have SWAT.

Maybe the locals wanted him alive. LAPD learned well from the FBI/Waco gameplan.
Actually go back and see the LAPD versus the Symbionese Liberation Army. The Feebs actually tracked them down but LAPD SWAT showed up and took control of the scene as crimes had been committed in LA. The rest was the aroma of flames and burning flesh.
