They had a new and shiny AR 15 with 308 caliber they fired at the fleeing white pickup according to the interview on Channel 5.
They had an AR with .308???
Reeeeeelly?! I have one I made but, cops and departments are both lazy and cost sensitive.
They usually shoot .223/556.
An AR .308 cost mucho thousands of $$$’s. Ain’t no forest ranger gonna have a badazz weapon that has a .25 MOA @ 300yrds.
Departments know the average SWAT sniper encounter is 53yrds.
Almost David and Goliath range....
Technically, that would be an AR-10.

Not too be picky but I question a little bit Channel 5’s description of the rifle. I’m not an expert on this but I have not seen an AR-15 of 308 caliber. Now, I have seen chopped versions of the M-14 with pistol grips, folding stock, rails, etc, in 308 caliber. in fact, Seals are very fond of this weapon. Just chatting, not looking to be flamed :)
Pof 308, not AR-15. California Fish and Wildlife recently bought them to replace whatever rifle they were using before. The article makes it sound like they got a few hours training on how to fire a rifle and were then sent on their way.
