They had an AR with .308???

Reeeeeelly?! I have one I made but, cops and departments are both lazy and cost sensitive.

They usually shoot .223/556.

An AR .308 cost mucho thousands of $$$’s. Ain’t no forest ranger gonna have a badazz weapon that has a .25 MOA @ 300yrds.

Departments know the average SWAT sniper encounter is 53yrds.

Almost David and Goliath range....

That is what I heard on the interview....but I am not knowledgable regarding guns....but I have gone deer hunting....

Not True on the Cost. On DPMS.COM the difference is $50.00.
I opted for a 308LR and it is great to have the extra power at a marginal cost difference.

I don’t know if California has a wild hog problem, but in many southern states, wildlife officers are being equipped with .308 ARs for wild hog control.

That being said, I never believe the media on anything gun related. They will get the simplest facts wrong almost every time.
