Well, it's like this... Outdoors is where you go to find smallish furry scurrying toys that you can play with to death and sometimes eat, sometimes leave as gifts on the doorstep.
Inside is where you go to convince the human staff that they need to attend to your empty plate, not for hunting smallish furry scurrying toys.
Unfortunately since there is no longer a NiMH to teach them about lying in wait for said smallish furry etc. to come out from under the stove (or from under the dryer after venturing up the vent..) it may take time before they learn that if it's smallish, furry, and scurrying it's play time no matter which side of the door it's on..
Just so long as they don't decide to bless the humans at 3am with their 'gift' once they figure it out...
Empty plate, ours won't allow either of the two feeding dishes to be empty without wailing away.
2 eat from one dish, while the other 3 will eat only from the other, same food, but they have some type of agreement among themselves.
