Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma, the ranking Republican on the Armed Services Committee, tells National Review Online that he will postpone the nomination of Chuck Hagel, President Obamas nominee for secretary of defense.
Ill do that for as long as it takes, he says, firmly. Im going to make sure there is a 60-vote margin.
Hagel may be passed out of the committee, but its going to be a long, long time before he hits the floor, Inhofe says. Were going to need as much time as possible, and there are going to be several of us who will have holds.
Each day that goes by will make it more difficult for Democrats who say they are pro-Israel to hold out, Inhofe explains. I want everyone to be very clear about his past statements and his positions.
Inhofe says he will not block Hagels committee vote on Tuesday. Instead, he will now focus entirely on an extended floor fight over the final confirmation. Hes definitely going to make it out of the committee, he predicts.
The Oklahoma senator, who has been one of Hagels fiercest critics, says that he will not walk out of the committee vote, as some have rumored.
Inhofes main concern remains Hagels position on Israel. The anti-Israel history of Chuck Hagel is real, he says. We cant have someone at the Pentagon who has made these kind of statements.
Hagels financial-disclosure issues, he adds, are not central to why hes working to postpone the nomination. That doesnt bother me, he says. To me, thats minor.
Gives time to hammer the negative headlines again and again against Hagel meanwhile destroying Obama's credibility as well.
Obama will probably pull the nomination eventually.
Whoo Hoo!
Proud of MY Senator!
Obama is anti-Isreal too. They choose people that reflect their views. Thank goodness some Republicans are starting to stand up to these people. Good for Lindsey Graham too. BO needs to be held accountable for his whereabouts and inaction during the Benghazi attack. It can’t just be forgotten. Not this time.
I’m very proud of OUR Senator.. :)
Chuck Hagel is just a more awkward, less intelligent version of Obama. He believes the same things as Obama and Kerry et al., but he’s just dumb enough to say it in a blunt way that reveals how offensive he is.
You Oklahomans should be proud of Inhofe. He’s one of the few real patriot politicians left. It’s sad that the rest of the country doesn’t know about him. In the nineties when he, all by himself, challenged the ‘good old boys’ club in the house of reps by trying to rid it of the secret discharge petitions was one of the bravest things I’ve ever seen a legislator do.

I just don’t get how this is looking bad on Obama. Hagel whether we like it or not is a Republican. Republicans are keeping a Republican from position. I find it facinating hwo they are fighting to keep a Republican out of a position, but I have NEVER saw them fight a Democrat out of a position. Maybe I am missing something but I find this very facinating.
Good for Sen. Inhofe, may he delay it as long as possible.
Goodness...horrible grammar. Sorry but hopefully you get the points.
Next, Menendez needs to be investigated..
Hagel would be more effective than a Dem because Obama could claim "bi-partisanship" as these cuts were being made. Any issues the GOP would have against cuts would be ineffectual because it would be a Repub at the top carrying them out.
Hagel is the current Jim Jeffords.

He is clearly anti-Israel and pro Muzzie.
He sees the world through the same set of specks as Obozo.
He will not be missed in the GOP.
Yes, he is a turncoat and that is why he is getting harsher treatment.
Obozo’s compadres are Traitors.
You beat me.
So do I. So does Inhofe. It's childish. It's what Democrats do when they don't get their way, they stomp off like the petulant brats they are.
Inhofe's approach is the adult way to do it. You put a hold on the nomination. Let the Dems do the squirming.
It’s obvious that Hagel doesn’t study or read up on a subject. He doesn’t consider all sides to a story. And he’s fairly lacking in any common sense.
Yes, he’s a talking suit.
If Inhofe is saying it, rest assured they’ll vote Hagel in tomorrow. Inhofe will vote for him.
