They were happy with the 100 watt ban, I’m avoiding rewarding them whenever possible.

never buy lightbulbs in a store, buy them online from a lightbulb store.

You can get bulbs that last 5 times longer for LESS money than the crap they sell at stores.

A few months ago, we got the 72W bulb and I am surprised at how much we really like the light. It’s bright, but easy on the eyes.

72W. Pretty smart, GE.

Went to Home Depot......no more 75 watt bulbs all phased out. Went to WalMart and they still had some 75 watt bulbs in stock

But even more surprising was 90 watt GE bulbs there called “watt miser” in soft white which seems to me a permanent deal. Was $1.67 for a 4 pack

I stopped using 100 watters years ago and 60 is my standard, but it was because of fire or some such, can’t remember.

Every penny spent on a GE product goes to strengthen a company that received over $1.2 billion in stimulus funds and has helped put Obama in the White House and keep him there.

Plus their products suck.

Just one question. Do either one produce enough heat to keep my engine block warm at 30 below like the faithful 100 Watt did?

GE is a big reason for the ban on incandescent light bulbs.

They were apparently tired of selling light bulbs for 50 cents so they lobbied Congress.

Now they are selling these for a few bucks.

A beautiful thing when global companies have such an effect on our govt don’t ya think?

They’ve been phasing out the higher watt bulbs so that the dim bulbs in Congress and the Federal bureaucracy don’t have to feel so inadequate. Most of them seem to be in the 15 watt range.

Thanks Dennis. I stocked up last year and bought 300 100’s. The Gov’t is insane. Hate their low flush toilets too!

The only thing that really happened with the bulb bans was it resulted in the last bulb manufacturers in the US shutting down. I haven’t purchased bulbs recently, but I’d have to guess they are made in China now.

"But if you don't mind paying more, GE also has 72-watt halogen bulbs (rated as "100-watt equivalent") which put out 1490 lumens, so with those you get slightly better brightness with less energy being used."

I use halogen bulbs in several hard to reach fixtures in my apartment. They are bright and give off a whiter light. However the seem to give off way more heat. Great in the Winter months but it the Summer not so much.
