Maybe he wants to spend the rest of his life out of the limelight.. with a little peace and quiet..
Little or no responsibilities.. could be wisdom..
I find it extremely odd for any pope to leave right before Easter, the most important celebration of the Catholic Church. It's so important that I would have expected Benedict to try and stick it out.
Now it's more than likely that there will be no pope in office for the Easter Blessing.
Perhaps he sees the ongoing worldwide disruption and political instability and has decided to hand the reins over to some one able to manage and act.
Having the head of a country incapacitated during unstable times is unwise.
Benedict is wise, if anything.
I have a lot of respect for him.
