Ever since it became less socially acceptable to argue openly that women—at least white, middle-class women—owe it to men to curtail our professional ambitions in favor of a life as our husbands' support staff, conservatives started to panic about declining birth rates. If women don't start making more babies, they dimly warn, the country is headed for catastrophe as the workplace empties out of workers and retirees suck up all the money and people stop caring about the future. (Because we can't care about the children we do have unless we have more of them, for some reason.) To save America, women, especially those aforementioned pesky middle-class, white women, are going to have to start having more babies at a younger age, the argument goes.

There is no doubt that immigration has changed the demographics of this country forever. It was the 1965 Immigration Act that will eventually lead to our decline and downfall.

As a son of an immigrant, I am not anti-immigrant. But they have to immerse themselves in our language and culture, not the other way around.)

LEGAL immigration is not declining. We are still taking in 1.2 million a year and that number will go up because of lack of quotas on certain immigration categories like spouses and children. There are over 4 million intending immigrants waiting overseas to enter this country. They are just waiting for their number to come up after completing all the required paperwork.

Illegal immigration is allegedly down due the sagging economy and better immigration enforcement. I don't put too much stock in the government estimates, which are meant to fool the public so they can push for an amnesty.

Legal immigration is destroying this country far more than illegal immigration. 25% of the adult legal immigrants lack even a high school degree. We are importing hundreds of thousands of high school dropouts. And if we have an amnesty, we will legalize millions of more high school dropouts. 50% to 60% of the estimated 11 million (probably closer to 20 million) illegal aliens lack even a high school degree.

My point is that we are not losing population. The proponents of high immigration like to use the argument that we need more immigrants to either do jobs Americans won’t do or cannot do. This is nonsense.

As a nurse, the worst thing I would see would be childless women between the ages of 50 and 70 or so in the hospital, spouse gone, left them, or dead, and no one — I mean NO ONE to show up to care for them, or to be there to visit them. Most were whiny, pathetic, and selfishly neurotic. Same goes for many men.

I would often wonder ...why no family? Why not even ONE child to come by?

Many of women this age aborted all their kids, or birth controlled their families away. Career comes to an end for everyone, at retirement age. People get old, friends and spouses die, party is over, money runs out ... What then?

Many will be living until far past retirement age — alone and with dwindling resources.

Women AND men need to start figuring out that children don’t end one’s life, that careers can be started later in life, or worked on WHILE raising a family — and that family is as important and as comforting as money in their old age. Women have some REALLY warped views of kids and family life. They put career before family ...but what they don’t realize is that a career can’t love them, or be loyal to them like a family can.

The happiest, most wonderful and well adjusted scenarios were always the older folks with larger strong families ...they received loads of cards, flowers, gifts, always had visitors ...and these folks just seemed so much happier and well adjusted. Their hospital stays were puncuated by loving family members — family sitting around reminiscing, laughing, etc.

We are MEANT to have children in life and to be connected - not separated. Birth control and abortion disconnect us, separate us, absolve us of responsibility and ties. They are truly evil inventions.
