NAHA, OKINAWA PREF. Chinese surveillance ships were spotted near the Senkaku Islands on Sunday, the coast guard reported, showing that China isnt backing down from Japans allegations of radar-lock provocations in the East China Sea.
Four Chinese surveillance vessels entered the contiguous zone adjacent to Japans territorial waters around the Senkakus from around 7 a.m., said the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture.
Their return to the Senkakus came just after Onodera said Chinese movements around the islet chain had calmed in the wake of Tuesdays announcement.
On Tuesday, the Defense Ministry said that a Chinese frigate directed fire-control radar at a Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer near the Senkakus on Jan. 30, finally revealing the Japanese navys presence in the area.
It also said another Chinese warship locked its weapons-guidance system onto an MSDF helicopter in the area on Jan. 19.
Chinas Defense Ministry has point-blank denied these allegations, but Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera said Saturday the government may disclose hard evidence proving the incidents.

The Chinese are calculating our response. They’re pretty sure we won’t interfere.
I guarantee we’ll respond quickly and decisively. Heck Obama may even go so far as to send a strongly worded letter.
What the hell is Russia doing...?
Should be good for another 200+ on the Dow Monday.
Ehhhh....they were all using that Chinese GPS.
“In one hundred meters, turn left. In one hundred meters, turn left. In one hundred meters, turn left.......”
This issue has been festering for...about 30 years, though traditionally it has been almost totally a matter of diplomacy and paperwork.
This is getting serious, and there could be a little shooting.
How many Chinese subs are tooling around Okinawa, I wonder...?
Japan should buy JSF, and turn some of their helicopter amphibs into de-facto carriers.
The USA needs to put the UCAV program on turbo-boost.
“It also said another Chinese warship locked its weapons-guidance system onto an MSDF helicopter in the area on Jan. 19.”
In some places, that in itself would be considered an act of war. There’s a storm brewing...
Bammy aint gonna do a thing if China decides to smack Japan. China knows this and so does Russia. We haven’t the guts to do defend Japan. Look what’s in the Whitey Hut and look whats running the country.
Unfortunately for the free world, America has traitor in the White House.
Checking the margins of Japan’s surveillance radars and the alert status/response time of the JASDF.
Waiting on China to make its move so Russia can take the northern islands.
Don’t think the Panese can fight a two front war against Russia and China while their ally is arming Al Queada.
The Chicomms know what they are doing.
Thanks traumer.
Wonder what the boy wonder in the White House is doing, other than getting ready to blame the GOP.
