The women were victims of 'a tragic misinterpretation' by officers working under 'incredible tension,' LAPD Chief Charlie Beck says.
...
at least seven officers opened fire. On Friday, the street was pockmarked with bullet holes in cars, trees, garage doors and roofs

they were shooting to kill without bothering to ID what they are shooting at
that should be counted as attempted murder
lol!!
Nobody is safe! Not even a kid on a big wheel!
For what purpose did the seven cops fire into the truck?
Gross stupidity...several of you seem to think cops get charged with murder for discharging their firearms in stupid mistakes they make...just out of curiosity, when was the last time any LEO was actually charged and convicted of murder in an accidental shooting incident?
Crap, they got away with Waco; they got away with Ruby Ridge...do you actually think these idiots are going to be charged with attempted murder??
Get real.
The seven cops 'thought' they knew at whom there were firing. Why else would they have opened fire?
They shot to kill. Why else did they shoot at the cab area?
They hit their intended target. One lady suffered two gunshot wounds to the back of her upper torso.
Other than them not properly identifying their targets before they opened fire and the fact that Dorner's target died at his hand and these ladies escaped with their lives, I can see no difference between their actions and Dorner's.
Going to be?
NO!
Should be?
Yes.
If I go down to town right now, find some car driving slowly away from me at the store and start shooting into the car where the driver is sitting - say, 15 to 20 shots, what charges do you think I will be brought up on?
What was their intention? That is the definition of attempted murder. This was not an accidental shooting as you are claiming.
A DEA agent shooting himself in the leg while talking to a classroom full of students is gross stupidity.
Seven cops pumping lead into the cab of a pickup truck without first identifying the target or giving a verbal warning is attempted murder.
Crap, they got away with Waco; they got away with Ruby Ridge...do you actually think these idiots are going to be charged with attempted murder?? Get real.
Just because the DA isn't going to charge them does not change their intent when they opened fire.
Was this an accidental shooing? If not, then what was their intent when they opened fire?
If you are a cop...no charges
this was no accident. This was done on purpose and they knew perfectly well what they were doing when they did it.
They had no reason to even draw their guns. They were not shot at or endangered by that vehicle. If they really gave no warning or orders and simply started shooting they’d be lawbreakers even if it was the suspect.
cops should be held to the same standard as everyone else, they ARE civilian law enforcement after all. They are not immune to the law.
Should they be no smarter, wiser, more knowledgeable, more skilled and more responsible than, say the kid that stocks the shelves at the corner grocery?
No, my FRiend, they must be held to a higher standard, unless they expect to be paid stock clerk wages, and have a stock clerk's benefits package, and expect everyone to hold them in the same high regard as a stock clerk, if they do, they rate the same standards.
They want more? We expect and deserve more.
Well, it's getting harder to answer those questions!
*ouch* point conceded...
