‘a tragic misinterpretation’ by officers working under ‘incredible tension,’ LAPD Chief Charlie Beck says”

But they are “professionals” right? Can't have it both ways, Chief.

Once men would have had the pride of Manhood and the self respect to be ashamed of acting as the LAPD has. If one cop somewhere wigged out and prayed and sprayed (always a possibility)the dept would have had the decency to be truly ashamed. Now they make what they seem to think are actually ameliorating excuses. Truly sickening

They feminized the force (actually society) decades ago and now we ask “Where are the Men”? Dead and buried.

Did anyone else here catch the sentence, “ Dorner threatened to kill more police and seemed to take responsibility for the slaying over the weekend of the daughter of a retired LAPD captain and her fiance"? Please note the word, SEEMED.
That is new to me. All I heard before this was, Dorner took credit for all three killings.
Did I miss something or is LAPD trying to mislead us?
At this stage of the game, I am wondering who I should fear the most, Dorner or the POlice.

Looks to me like the LAPD needs to do a bit of training at Frontsight.... or maybe just a bit of training.

When a member of their own is under threat, it is shoot first, and ask questions later. And if a few civilians become “collateral damage” well at least no cops got injured.

Cops refer to each other as "brother officers". That should be a clue as to how they feel about their own versus outsiders.

This indicates the level of professionalism in this police department. Generalizisg, I think we can apply it to other police depts from what I have seen.

“The unionized cops went vigilante.”

But the unionized cops will never “go vigilante” when a regular citizen is threatened. They call for the SWAT team and wait.

http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2013/02/cleveland_police_chase_and_shooting_scene.html

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A November car chase ended in a “full blown-out” firefight, with glass and bullets flying, according to Cleveland police officers who described for investigators the chaotic scene at the end of the deadly 25-minute pursuit.

But when the smoky haze — caused by rapid fire of nearly 140 bullets in less than 30 seconds — dissipated, it soon became clear that more than a dozen officers had been firing at one another across a middle school parking lot in East Cleveland.

Soon after the shooting stopped, one officer rushed to check the two occupants of the 1979 Chevrolet Malibu that the cadre of Cleveland cruisers had followed into the lot.

Officer Wilfredo Diaz, a former city EMS worker, had fired the first shots at the Malibu after bailing out of his car.

He felt for passenger Malissa Williams’ pulse.

There wasn’t one.

Diaz moved Williams’ leg slightly to look for a gun.

Again, there wasn’t one.

Dead next to Williams in the driver’s seat was Timothy Russell, 43.

For some reason the police don’t want the ex-cop to talk.

Worth repeating.

Dornan is a cold blooded murderer that must be stopped.

Which is more dangerous, one cold blooded murderer or dozens of cold blooded murderers in uniform?

He went through great effort to plant clues he was going to Mexico, flying out of Lindbergh, camping in Big Bear.

The guy who signed the papers kicking him out of the LAPD is in Oakland, well away from where he focused LEO attention.

Bad week to be William Bratten.

You mentioned “herd mentality”
I have come to the conclusion that most humans are pack animals.

For all of our talk of Freedom, it is the empirical truth.

Mirrors my considered thoughts as well.

How are their actions any different than Dorner's?

Dorner knew who he was shooting at, intended to target them, and hit his targets.

Worth repeating:

This was not a “mistaken shooting”, it was an intentional attempt to murder the occupants of the truck without an actual knowledge of the identity of those occupants. A clear case of attempted murder.

Although I might have said: A clear case of attempted murder under color of authority.

"Send ‘em all back to Police Academy where they came from.

Don't send them back there, that is where they learned to be the hooded thugs they are now.

If they would have learned to treat everyone with a little more respect, the cops would not be looking over their shoulder every time they hit the street.

Also their employers would probably more willing to help them catch the bad guys.

Why? The "suspect" had a GREY NISSAN!

You're right. I'll correct what I said.

In retrospect, it was pretty reckless to be driving a truck that morning.

If I were to spot Dornan, I would be unable to call the cops as I might be mistaken. A mistaken identification would guarantee the death of an innocent man. I don't want any part of killing an innocent man, and I figure the vast majority of Southern Californians would agree with me.

OK, I know there must be a flaw in your reasoning here, but I'll be darned if I can spot it.
