They have to pick somebody, and white males are personae non grata, so that narrows the field dramatically.

One year they picked some African woman who planted a bunch of trees.

I think this young woman deserves SOME prize, but her actions have not advanced the cause of peace (since the only thing that would do that in that region would be for her to shut up!).

Perhaps they need to institute a Nobel Freedom Prize instead. That would do nicely for her!
