- A South Florida couple who was burned out of their apartment is asking for the public's help to assist with their injured dog's medical bills...

Gordon said the hospital bills are about $5,000 and the dog is expected to be there for at least another week. "You don't realize how much you love something or someone or an animal until you think you're not gonna have it anymore," he said.

“but the few months of low-quality life are not worth it”

I agree with you, Nln, and hope they put the dog down mercifully.

Dogs do NOT understand why they are being injected, feel crummy, are in pain. . . a human being (usually) knows and understands, can be happy and so forth.

All the dog knows is that is feels terrible. Chemo, radiation, etc. are horrible. Why subject the dog to that? It is not, actually, merciful, particularly when he is almost certain to die within months.

If your dog gets run over and needs a splint, well, that pain really is temporary and the prognosis really is good. But cancer? I think the most merciful thing is to let him go.

I had friends with a diabetic cat. Twice a day they’d give him his shot. That cat was miserable. Lived in the closet.

Well put. It is simply hard for owners to let go. But the canine patient only wishes to find relief.

Our 17 yr. old pitbull had to be put down....it killed me to do it....I hoped and prayed he’d just sleep away....Icouldn’t let him suffer...he was my buddy...I still can’t talk about him to this day without tearing-up...

but to ask me to pay for your neglect??

What neglect? I didn't see a cause for the fire in the article.

“So what if the media is trolling for victims. If you own a media company, you can tell it what charities you want publicized.”

You’re lost.

That is okay, most thinking people know what I mean. Hopefully someday you’ll see that this kind of enabling creates a VICTIM mentality...and that many of these “victims” are charlatans.

Shimmer,

Isn’t it FASCINATING how some hurriedly and vehemently defend the “gimme money” crowd IF that crowd is asking for cash for their luxuries....but these same disciples quickly refuse to help someone with a human child who has lost a spouse?

Ours has B-cell lymphoma, which has a better survival rate. He is my MIL’s sun, moon and stars and the reason she gets up in the morning. She cooks him breakfast and dinner and frets over him like he is her child. He grins up at her and every night when she is reading her Bible, he either sits in front of her with his chin on her knees or lies beside her and sleeps.

Yes. He is worth any and all sacrifices we will have to make. And when it is time, we will help him to a painless everafter.

It’s ...something. Now I must say that I’m all right though. He didn’t leave insurance so I took the little bit of retirement and made a business and am doing ehhhhh ok. Better than not doing ok though!

Haven’t seen you on here either, but you know what’s funny? I was just thinking of you the other day and meant to look you up and see if you were still on here. I’m doing better and better every month, chemo is over, I’m improving all the time! thanks for asking and keep in touch. :)
