Truck found in manhunt for ex-Los Angeles cop accused of killing officer, two others

A truck found abandoned and burning near a Southern California ski area belonged to a fugitive former Los Angeles police officer suspected in three murders, authorities confirmed Thursday afternoon, as thousands of officers searched for the suspect across three states and into Mexico.

The suspect has been identified as Christopher Jordan Dorner, 33, and he is considered extremely dangerous and armed with multiple weapons, authorities say. He is accused of killing a college basketball coach and her fiance last weekend, then following through on a vow to kill police by opening fire Wednesday night on three officers, killing one.

The killings appear to be retaliation for his 2008 termination from the Los Angeles Police Department for making false statements, authorities say. Dorner posted an online manifesto that warned, "I will bring unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in LAPD uniform whether on or off duty."

I think he was already long gone before the cops ever got to his truck. He knows how the cops would respond and he could have used this as a diversion to draw resources away from where he is headed. The LAPD better hope he slips up and makes a mistake so they can catch him.

And BTW, the Cops may have kicked the suspect in the face but I don’t see that guy on a murdering rampage.

Now he might well be a nut, but in fact that basketball coach is the daughter of the police lawyer whom he feels screwed him over and got him fired.

Studiously absent from all the news coverage are any interviews with either Sgt. Evans, the sadist he outed, nor Richard Gettler, the father of the man she kicked in the face after he was handcuffed.

Strangely, the news media is not interested in this side of the story. /s

LOL! There’s some newspaper delivery people that’ll get quite a payout from the Torrance Police Dept.

My guess is he is not in the area where the truck was found. If he was planning more murders, he might have parked another vehicle nearby. Torching the truck would prevent tracking dogs from getting a scent.

Good point about limiting the pool to innocent bystanders. Given the police accuracy as well as their fire discipline, blue-on-blue casualties should be excluded.

There is a lot more to his history that just this incident. I have heard several stories on the radio today about his past. People have been out to get him all his life it seems. Here is some excerpts I found in print about some of what I heard on the radio.

http://www.ocregister.com/news/dorner-495119-police-officer.html

That year, he clashed with a former girlfriend. Dorner, in a June 2006 request for a restraining order, accused ex-girlfriend of cyber-stalking and harassing him by making intimidating phone calls and posting his name and badge number on the Internet.

Court papers filed by Dorner include an anonymous post on the website dontdatehimgirl.com, labeling him as severely emotionally and mentally disturbed.

“This guy is twisted...He is super paranoid, always thinking that everyone is out to get him,” said the posting.

The post continues: “Anyway be careful because this guy is a police officer...he will probably think he can get away with anything.”

She denied all allegations in a response to the court, which rejected the restraining order.

Is it safe now for people with blue trucks to come out of the garage?

Actually his truck was gray, and only appeared blue (like gray cement paving) if illuminated by blue tinted light.

LA cops don't understand fizzicks and thought it was really blue.

But I don’t think he is running. It is more of a cat and mouse game. He wants to kill again

I think you are right. He has already counted himself as dead. He's trying to take as many as possible with him.

The cook at our cafeteria is a 6’2” 300 lb. Black man. He was seriously freaked out about driving home, here in OC. I wouldn’t be surprised if he calls in sick, tomorrow.

Federal aviation authorities on Thursday ordered media helicopters to stay away from an area around Big Bear where authorities were intensifying their search for a former LAPD officer wanted in connection with a deadly shooting spree.

Earlier Thursday, law enforcement authorities had expressed concern that helicopter TV cameras were compromising officer safety by showing police as they combed the snow-covered mountains where Christopher Dorner, 33, is believed to have fled.

The temporary flight restriction was ordered by the Federal Aviation Administration and covered an area spanning three nautical miles on the surface to an elevation of 3,000 feet, said Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the agency in Los Angeles.

A pickup truck that was found burning Thursday was linked to Dorner, who allegedly has killed three people and wounded two others. Police found fresh tracks in the snow in the area Thursday afternoon as they hunted for the fugitive.

The former Los Angeles Police Department officer is suspected of shooting three officers, killing one, Thursday morning in Riverside County.
Dorner also is suspected of killing a couple on Sunday in Orange County, where they were found shot in a car. One of the victims was the daughter of a former LAPD captain named in an online manifesto that police say was posted by Dorner.

And since I actually read his manifesto I have more information than you do. My information comes from multiple places including his manifesto.

It is clear that you hate the police. That has ZERO to do with this nut case. He has had a persecution complex for most of his life (by his own words). He is insane and murderous.... no matter what else you think

Did he see that movie, “Django Unchained”?

Yup.

"Christopher Walz, you impressed me in Inglorious Basterds. After viewing Django Unchained, I was sold. I have come to the conclusion that you are well on your way to becoming one of the greats if not already and show glimpses of Daniel Day Lewis and Morgan Freeman-esque type qualities of greatness."

Lots of folks have been railroaded.

Name some.

There is NO EXCUSE for this guy.

What's the excuse for the cops raking the newspaper-delivery ladies with machine-gun fire?

What's the excuse for the cop ramming the truck of the morning commuter, then firing into his windshield?

You should be more informed before jumping on the cops are scumbags bandwagon.

The arrest was made in front of a hotel, in full view, with plenty of witnesses. These witnesses testified and not one saw the kick to the face. The supposed victim did not have injuries consistent with a kick to the face and did not make the claim until after the accusation was made.

Moreover, this now killer had a long history of disciplinary problems, poor judgement issues, and other incidents of being factually challenged. He even told his training officer he was waiting for probation to be completed so that he could sue the department.

He had all the markings of an affirmative action twit looking for a payout. The department rightfully canned him.

From the hotel workers who witnessed the arrest
Adrid did not see Sergeant Evans crouch in the bushes or kick Gettler. He said that Sergeant Evans had one foot in the planter and one on the sidewalk and never had both feet in the planter. Adrid saw the cut on Gettler’s nose but did not see any other injuries.

Perez testimony: She did not remember exactly what happened, but she saw Sergeant Evans use the taser, and she saw Gettler fall headfirst into the bushes. She noticed that some branches were broken when Gettler hit the bushes. Perez did not see Sergeant Evans go into the bushes or kick Gettler. Perez went back into the hotel, so she did not see the officers handcuff Gettler, but she saw Gettler struggling while the officers tried to get him out of the bushes

Other responding officer
. After learning from Sergeant Evans that use of force was involved, Sergeant Jackson began to interview people regarding the use of force. He interviewed the officers and the other witnesses individually and did not recall any of the witnesses reporting that kicks were used. When he inspected Gettler’s injury, he saw blood on Gettler’s face that he thought was from the bushes, but he did not see any bruising or other indication that Gettler had been kicked.

Dorner was and is a person who has difficulties with the truth. That is evident in his manifesto. You can not take his testimony as factual but only within the context of his delusions.

If he has a buddy helping him, the buddy could have driven the truck there, gotten out, set the fire, and walked to where he had another vehicle parked.
