Good question. IF (that’s a big “if!) she was a sheriff’s plant, why would she yak about it before the court hearings?
Then again, if the sheriff thought she wouldn’t be found out, getting her version of the encounter (she indicates Holmes has no remorse) to the press would bolster a death penalty being brought to the court.
