Fox News Dumps Dick Morris, Renews Karl Rove
American Thinker ^ | 02/06/2013 | J. Robert Smith

Posted on 02/06/2013 7:42:47 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Dick Morris is gone from Fox News. Meanwhile, Karl Rove has been given a new multiyear contract. But why?

A Fox News spokesman said only that the network chose not to renew Morris' contract. It's not hard to figure out why. Morris was glaringly wrong on the outcome of the 2012 presidential contest, predicting often and loudly that Mitt Romney would win in a romp. Funny thing is that Karl Rove was conspicuously wrong about the presidential results, too. Rove just wasn't as vociferous as Morris, except on Election Night. Even respected conservative elections analyst and commentator Michael Barone called the presidential sweepstakes for Romney. Barone is a Fox News contributor.

Rove is currently involved in a dust up with conservatives over his new PAC, the oddly named Conservative Victory Project. Oddly named because the project isn't designed to elect more conservatives to the U.S. Senate (the Senate is the focus of the PAC's efforts). Per the New York Times:

"The group, the Conservative Victory Project, is intended to counter other organizations that have helped defeat establishment Republican candidates over the last two election cycles. It is the most robust attempt yet by Republicans to impose a new sense of discipline on the party, particularly in primary races."

Those other organizations would include tea parties and the Club for Growth, among other "far-right" groups.

In a blistering commentary at RedState, Erick Erickson writes about Rove's latest venture:

"It is interesting though. The people who brought us No Child Left Behind, Medicare Part D, TARP, the GM bailout, Harriet Miers, etc., etc., etc. are really hacked off that people have been rejecting them. In 2012, about the only successful Republican candidates were the ones who directly rejected the legacy of these people."

I don’t like Morris but voter fraud wasn’t Dick’s fault.

Ever hear the expression “bet your job”? Well, Morris did, and lost.

I know most FReepers hate both Morris and Rove, there’s really no comparison, given Rove’s campaign and WH experience. Morris has been a book/tv hack much longer than he worked for Clinton.

So FNC wants to pretend that Rove is a “conservative” commentator?

It is true that Dick Morris predicted a landslide victory for Romney as did many others including me. We were all operating under a basic political preconception: “It’s the economy, stupid.” Which of course came from James Carville.

Little did we know the dynamic had changed and now it’s the demographics, stupid. That was Morris’s big mistake. Many people now WANT higher taxes (on others) and bigger government. It’s the demographics, stupid. OK we get it.

Morris failed to take voter fraud into account. That’s a serious mistake for a Democrat.

Ailes and Rove and other former Bushies

Bush loving freepers have fun with it all...”Rove is so magnificent” and all that crap...bastard is a better word..a stone cold moderate hungry to keep power is all he is

They are dead serious about keeping control of the GOP...Ailes has more singular power in the GOP than anyone else

even though they have lost the popular vote every time since 1992 except once

RE: Little did we know the dynamic had changed and now it’s the demographics

Who woulda thunk that Michael Barone, one of America’s foremost demographic observers would get it wrong too?

Here are some of the folks FReepers tended to trust who got it wrong last November ( as far as I can remember ):

Karl Rove,
High Hewitt,
Dick Morris,
Wayne Allyn Root (Las Vegas odds maker who claims he’s seldom wrong)
Gallup,
Rasmussen

(add your name or organization here ).

The two most correct predictors:

Nate Silver of the NY Times

INTRADE Market

Rove had a good interview on hanity last night.

He did state he waned articulate and not candidates who make foolish mistakes.

lets face it folk, rove or no-rove, there are inarticulate opportunists out there who prey on low IQ republican club conservative types to weasel their way into an election by knocking out a weak rino.

Is ROVE sponsoring a candidate school/seminar?

No...no comparison. Rove is MUCH MORE dangerous to the conservative movement than Morris is. He is an enemy of the conservative wing of the GOP. Morris is not.

MUCH MORE.

I won’t notice since I stopped watching all the news shows, and especially the commentary shows. There’s nothing they talk about that I haven’t heard about already or that I can’t see later via Hotair, Freedomslighthouse, Breitbart, Daily Caller, Youtube, etc.

Rove represents everything that was wrong with Bush, and now FOX is doubling down on that action. Since the Republicans lost, FOX must figure a guy with a losing record like Rove best represents the status quo.

Keeping Rove is in line with keeping the msm relevant.

Rove steers left of conservatives, arguing he and his group(s) choose electable conservatives whose message is reached by so-called Republican 'moderates'.

So . . .What criteria identifies a Repubican as 'moderate'? A Republican moderate is a potential voter who checks with the all-too-apparent-progressive-msm before taking a stand.

Conservative radio host, Mark Levin gave Rove a much deserved verbal-kick-in-his-political-sac. audio here

I didn't think it would be a landslide, but I did think that Romney would win. I'm convinced that Hurricane Sandy, along with Chris Christie's glowing comments about Obama, and stroll along the beach, convinced enough undecideds that maybe Obama wasn't such a bad president ater all, and we should stick with him. Had it not been for Christie, I think Romney would be the President today.
