MIDLAND CITY, Ala. The Alabama man who held a 5-year-old boy captive for nearly a week engaged in a firefight with SWAT agents storming his underground bunker before he was killed during the rescue operation, the FBI said Tuesday night. Also, bomb technicians scouring his rural property found two explosive devices, one in the bunker, one in a plastic pipe that negotiators used to communicate with the man.
Officers killed 65-year-old Jimmy Lee Dykes Monday, said an official in Midland City, speaking on condition of anonymity. The bunker raid came six days after Dykes boarded a school bus, fatally shot the driver and abducted the boy, who by all accounts was unharmed.

I hope they weren’t, “Assault-Type,” explosives...

We get plenty of detail from the MSM (even if most of it is BS) the one thing they never report is motive.
What set this guy off?
Society seems to be under extreme pressure since Obama came into office.
Thanks for posting. There hasn’t been much in the way of details on how he was killed. Top secret apparently.
Great post, thanks.
Remember, FReepers, that ATF has declared flash powder to be a “high explosive” requiring a license. Possession of an old M80, “quarter stick”, or shotgun bird bomb is now “possession of an explosive device” and “possession of a high explosive”.
The perp was a creep and criminal kidnapper but they will pile on charges to smear preppers.
Yeah, this guy was a real piece of work. Yet another PTSD case gone untreated. As far as I’m concerned PTSD comes from lack of training and lack of mental fortitude. Pysch tests need to be better or put ‘em through Ranger training and if they last more than two days they’re clear. LOL
I’m probably the only person on the planet sad that he died. I’ve sat and watched someone psychotic go from crazy to normal in 30 minutes after meds were administered. I hope he found peace. I am thrilled that the little boy survived but why is there no talk of his father. Did he have one?

*******
Only the strong survive to live with PTSD. Some can’t take it at all and commit suicide. The rest type about it.
For some people, it's the result of brain trauma due to the shock wave from explosions going off nearby. It's the adult version of shaken baby syndrome - most adults don't die but they suffer permanent neural damage. It wouldn't surprise me if brain trauma due to repeated hits on the field were why we keep hearing of ex-football players getting in trouble, but nowhere near as many ex-basketball players.
The perp was apparently due in court that day to answer charges about his prior inappropriate gun firing in his ‘hood.
My childhood would have lacked a certain exuberance without appropriate, occasional use of M-80s.
I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks.
I live with someone with PTSD.
Isn’t what you’re talking about, TBI..Traumatic Brain Injury.
PTSD is more of a mental/emotional condition. Back in the day it was called Shellshock. But those guys were a different breed back then. Fought battle after battle, no internet, no GoreTex, no smart bombs, nothing...and then a week after returning home, went back to work like nothing happened. Read “The Greatest Generation”
Today it has taken on a different meaning. Nightmares, reactions to loud noises, etc. Make you think you back “there”. Unfortunately, having worked alongside many guys that had “PTSD”, that diagnosis has become another entitlement ploy used by the VA. My nephew was browbeat by the VA counselor when he got back from Afghanistan for NOT claiming it.
And the worst part of that, is that it takes away from the people that really have it. Kind of like that coward in Texas that killed Chris Kyle. He claimed it. He never saw any combat. He was in Baghdad in ‘08. I was too. Him getting it, diminishes what the people that actually have it, have to deal with.
Wow.
Was the guy a fobbit?
was the guy a FOBBIT??...LOL
IN 2005 I was begging to go on convoy duty just so I could say.... I never was one!
Thanks.
