I’m unaware of anything the Tea Party has done to merit such attacks. They stand for fiscal responsibility and they opposed Obamacare.

That is the reason. It’s not the lefts agenda.
The Tea Party was a threat to the lounge lizard Republicans. The upstarts who dared to challenged their RINO ways. The way I sees it is this a way:
1. The Tea Party dies away—a “flash in the pan”
2. The Tea Party surges and takes over the GOP.
3. The Tea Party Bolts the GOP and starts the Liberty Party and within a decade becomes the real opposition party.
4. The Tea Party goes radical, goes under ground and starts to wage a terrorist or propaganda war on the Liberals and RINO allies.
