At least eight people were killed and 38 injured Sunday when a tour bus careened out of control while traveling down a Southern California mountain road, struck a car, flipped and plowed into a pickup truck, authorities said.
The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. about 80 miles east of Los Angeles and left State Route 38 littered with debris, the bus sideways across the two lanes and its front end crushed.
Emergency crews worked to free passengers who were trapped in the bus, which was returning to Tijuana, Mexico, California Highway Patrol spokesman

If it saves just one life, it would be worth it.
...and Bus Driver background checks along with registration.
Buses should be limited to less that 7 passengers.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!?
Did it happen in a bus-free zone?
I agree.
This is the second bus accident in two days.
No vehicle on the road, rail or air should be able to carry more than 7 people. Because the 8th person on that bus could have been saved!! Just ask Mark Kelley.
It seems to me that almost all the transportation incidents involving multiple fatalities also involve large capacity vehicles. I think that to limit the potential for such fatalities, especially for children on school buses, we must absolutely limit the carrying capacity of these vehicles to no more than seven. At least when we have a deranged killer using a gun trying to kill innocent children, we stand a chance when there may be an armed civilian nearby to take out the gunman. But when it’s a busload of innocent children traveling down the road at a high rate of speed, there’s not much we can do except limit the size of the buses. The cost of buying, operating, and maintaining the buses is a small price to pay when compared to a child’s life.
Ridiculous argument? No more so than a ban on 30 round magazines for AR15s.
And how many innocents are killed each year in high volume vehicle deaths compared with the number of innocents slaughtered as at Sandy Hook? Wedon’t focus on those tragedies because transportation is necessary for commerce? Why is it that being armed is not seen necessary for self defense? Is defending oneself with a firearm considered to be an over reaction in these days of measured response? Why is it necessary to allow a villainous bully the ability to recover and do it all over again to you much worse or to someone else? I wonder just what percentage of them actually do turn over a new leaf and become upstanding citizens.
RIP.
I won’t be long before the greedy plaintiff lawyers come crawling out of their nests like a swarm of cockroaches.
