Newark Mayor Cory Booker made a statement on HBO's Real Time Friday that should please gun rights advocates across the fruited plain.
Despite being for stronger gun laws, Booker said, "Legal gun buyers are not causing murders in Newark and Chicago and other places"
CORY BOOKER, NEWARK MAYOR (D-N.J.): To me, the data should drive our decision making. So I know, Im not afraid of people having guns who are law abiding citizens.
In the analysis of gun murders and shootings in my city, I could only find one in the entire time Ive been mayor...The guns that are causing carnage in our cities, my city and our country, every single year are acquired illegally.
that dont make the headlines
data shows that no legal gun buyer in Newark has been responsible for any of the shootings. If I tell you that right now, legal gun buyers are not causing murders in Newark and Chicago and other places.

Um ,is that cause it’s illegal to murder?
I guess Mayor Booker just proved my point. No one wants to say it but the Violence problem in America is isolated to the inner city Gubmint projects and the life long welfare recipients who dwell there. If the numbers from black on black, drug, and gang related murders were tossed out there wouldnt be enough murders to make a good 30 minute news report. If we had harsher mandatory penalties including the death penalty for murders, rapes, and robberies with a stolen gun the so called problem would be solved.
Back to the woodshed with you!
Of course, he is setting himself up for 2016.
“Of course, he is setting himself up for 2016.”
OBVIOUSLY, but we also should look at it as good news, since he’s showing just how pro-gun this country is now. He can’t even run as a Democrat in New Jersey and push gun-grabbing...at least openly.
Wow....a sane democrat....and black too...
Let’s see how fast he backtracks that statement ....when he is told he wandered too far off the moon bat plantation ...
He backtracked pretty quick last time he upset the massa in DC. I think Corey Booker is not a typical dem but he can’t be honest about it. Maybe he will wise up.
He always walks it back a couple days later, though, when he gets leaned on by the Party.
I think he's referring to the legal ownership of the firearm, regardless of the murder.
Either the firearm is "illegal" somehow (I'm thinking "stolen" or sold across state lines w/o involvement of a FFL), or the possessor is barred.
Keep in mind that NJ has asinine gun laws. The hoops that legal gun buyers have to go through are substantial. It is difficult and expensive to be a legal gun owner in NJ; and near impossible to be legally bearing arms outside of ones home. If all Booker is saying is that NJ's model is okay, he's not admitting that open or concealed carry is okay.
RUH-ROH. Back to the woodshed, Cory.....
He also brought up Chicago shootings also...a topic MSM avoids, Rahm tries to blame on gun laws.
To be even more specific, violence in America is mostly isolated to democrat and left wing enclaves: inner city drug trade, occupy trust fund white liberals, white anarchists, and broken families of the Murphy Brown generation.

Great Society Success Story ping.
Thanks opentalk.
This guy is alright. I like a liberal who can embrace the occasional fact. These guys, we might can work with.
Data Driven DemocRATS? Mutant deviates, they are.
I can’t help but like this guy
Together, you have 100% of the answer. Unfortunately, despite intermittent periods of sanity, Booker remains a Democrat.
This might not stop violent crime immediately, but it will end the concept of repeat offenders, vastly lowering the rate of violent crime. Offenders will know their fate before they act; perhaps causing them to think twice before putting that knife of gun in their pocket. Victims will know that harsh punishment has been given the perp. Society will be a much safer after a few generations of thugs dying in prison rather than procreating.
