WRIGHTSVILLE, Ga. —

A dollar store employee has been arrested for simple battery after whipping a customer's child with a belt.

WMAZ-TV (http://on.wmaz.com/WGbiFw ) reports surveillance cameras inside a Wrightsville dollar store recorded an 8-year-old boy running around the store and eventually throwing a cookie jar at 39-year-old Emilia Graciela Bell.

Authorities say Bell took off her belt, chased the boy down and spanked him behind the counter.

The boy's father called police and Bell was taken into custody. Police said she was free on bond Friday.

Fortunately, the comments are overwhelmingly in favor of the poor woman who had to suffer both the brat and the monster who sired him.

8 years old and acting like this - can’t wait to read about him when he hits 16.

Did he need a whipping? Sounds like he did.

When I was 8 years old, if I threw a glass jar at a female store patron - my father wouldn’t have called the police on the woman who spanked me. My father would have apologized to the woman, the clerk, the store manager, and then dealt with me at home.

The Boy’s father should also be arrested for his boys actions in his presence. That would be at a minimum of Destruction of property and bodily Assault on Bell.

yes, this kid had it coming but legally you just cannot hit someone else’s child for their misbehavior, even if they throw things at you. Parents today refuse to enforce consequences for misbehavior which is why we have a bunch of entitled youths such as the occupy wall street movement.

I thought it “took a village” to raise a kid, well i guess not when it comes to punishment...

Stupid hypocrite liberals...

The store employee was just doing the job the parent didn;t want to do...

Oh it so “takes a village” to raise a kid.

The clerk will be giving him a hollow-point when he is 16.

While she was at it, Ms. Bell should have smacked the father too.

Comments at the site are overwhelmingly in favor of the clerk. Love what one of them said — years ago the father would have spanked the child as well, and when he got home so would the mother. That’s how most of us over 50 were raised — act up once and suffer the consequences, never to do it again.

I pity the kids today — no sense of right and wrong — and all of us who have to put up with their misbehaviors in public.

Listen people you are WRONG WRONG WRONG.

I am always having to tell people and so are other family lawyers: you never put your hands on a child that is not yours, I don’t care if you are the step-mother, step-father, paramour, caretaker. NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT!

As a former child abuse lawyer, it is frequently the third party that beats the child to death while the parent stands by. If this instance had been my child, I would have called the police too but I also may have grabbed by own belt and whacked the clark!

Now to you idiot parents, GET THIS LOUD AND CLEAR, KIDS HATE SHOPPING! Get a babysitter, leave them with grandma or here’s an idea: DON’T SHOP FOR ENTERTAINMENT! Get in, get your catsup or toothpaste and get out. You will save money and then take the 8 year olds to the movies, the skate park, or bowling. Sheesh. It’s not that hard people.

1.) Did the kid deserve the whipping? Yes.
2.) Is the father an idiot? Yes.
3.) Did the clerk have the right to whip the kid? No.

Best observation:

The clerk will be giving him a hollow-point when he is 16.

If she didn’t injure the boy, good for her. If that’s the case, I hope her politically correct enemies are punished.

Yes. Back in the day when paddling was allowed in school — we not only suffered the paddle, but when we got home, we got another spanking. A couple of days of not being able to sit down effectively cured any and all bad behavior.

I say, once paddling was outlawed, spanking was deemed child abuse, and prayer was taken out of schools — that’s when our youth went all to hell.

The comments give me hope for us.

[And for all of you who say the state will arrest you if you spank your child. Think of this. The state will incarcerate for extended periods or execute your child when they reach the appropriate age if they violate the rules of the state. So that argument is moot.]

[Ms. Bell deserves a bronze metal for spanking this kid. Ms. Bell could have earned a silver metal had she belted the father next. A gold metal should never be awarded as result violence. I think it’s clear as mud that father and son are molded from the same thread and questionable who is raising who or the adult in the family. Free Ms. Bell.... ]

[She was arrested for showing this 8 year old he was wrong. In years to come those same police will arrest him for doing something bigger because he obviously has no manners. She spanked him with a belt not punched him. This is a fine line because I wouldn’t want anyone hitting my child but by the same token my kids knew I would have beat them unconscious had they cut up in a store.

One day that child will probably wish she was his mom. WTH allows their child to throw merchandise in a store or play in a store - it’s not a playground. It irks me to no end when I see parents allowing their kids to be unruly in stores and DISTURB MY PEACE!

Good for her. More of these kids need to be beat. Perhaps if they were they wouldn’t be so bad. We wouldn’t have some many school shootings, etc. ]

[HONEYLEE.............what happened to “It Takes A Village”? Well the VILLAGE is sick of the Trashy Village Idiots giving birth to and raising BRATS.]

Guessing the father never got spanked or corrected as a child and thus he has no idea how to correct his child. People wonder why the youth are the way they are today.

My mom used to leave me in the car when she went shopping, these days she would be arrested for child endangerment...

Damned if you, damned if you don’t
