Turkey's state-run news agency says a missing New York City woman has been found dead in Istanbul.
Sarai Sierra, a 33-year-old mother of two, went missing while vacationing alone in Istanbul. She was last heard from on Jan. 21, the day she was due back home.

I was hoping that they would find her alive. What a sad turn of events. I’ll keep her family in my prayers.
Just read how they arrested 9 people for her murder..9 people..what the hell??
1. tragic and sad.
2. IF “while vacationing alone” in Turkey THEN naif.
The world is a dangerous place, especially for women, alone.
Got to be more to this whole story.
Muslims.
I agree. This whole story from beginning to this horrible conclusion stinks to high heaven.
Just a guess: White, American woman alone in a Muslim country. Probably 9 Muslim men who saw what they consider to be uncovered meat. Think about the incidents in Tahir Square in Egypt.
She looks as if she could have some Turkish blood in her line. I just cannot imagine traveling to Turkey alone, otherwise. We lived there (in Adana) for 6 years, and even though those were much better days for being there, and traveling there, one still would not travel alone...not a woman. Why would her husband allow her to go alone? I’ve wondered that from the get-go. Strange.
That makes sense..and just another reason not to step foot in a Muslim country
I’m still pissed at Turkey for not letting the 4th ID into Iraq from the North during the War.
Probably another liberal victim of their own naivete. Besides, what kind of woman goes alone on vacation to Istanbul? And what kind of mother goes on vacation without her children?
She does look darker. If I had to guess, I would guess ethnic Jewish, based on her name. This would make her an even bigger target than us white girls.
Sarai is Arabic for Sarah, so she was likely a Muslim or Christian Arab or Turk. I have said since the start this this was a likely drug smuggle gone bad. Why else would the husband and brother let her go alone?
I don’t know if she’s a liberal or not, but you’re prolly spot on about the naivete. You have to be really naive or STUPID to travel through the ME, including Turkey, alone. Doubly stupid for a woman and she was staying in and touring through a particularly bad spot of town.
Daniel Pearl was as naive. He was less of a journalist and more of a cautionary tale, if anybody was interested in listening.
Of course, I ask that about a lot of U.S. cities as well.
Pearl was a selfish thrill-seeker with no regard for his wife and children. Cautionary indeed.
Seeing what country she was in, I fear that this wasn’t just a murder, but was preceded by the despicable acts that bearded savages love to do.
Please explain. Isn’t what he was up to what journalists used to do to get Pulitzers.
