Even after the IPCC acknowledges extensive evidence for ... solar forcing beyond what they included in their models, they still make no attempt to account for this omission in their predictions. ... It's insane, he told FoxNews.com.

Well, Duuuhhh. It has been know for 100 years that weather is more variable during sunspot minimums and maximums.
No rocket science to understand that.
Oh, I forgot. AGW is about agenda, not science.

Wait a minute! The sun warms the earth? Who would have guessed? I can see why they leave such an indirect influence out of their models.

What? You tellin’ me the moon's cooling effect does not completely offset the sun's heating?

We spend nearly $9billion a year studying GW in the US alone, business regulations to control global.warming costs our economy about $1.8trillion per year, or half the annual budget...and we’re just now figuring out that the sun warms the earth? Seriously?

When someone starts talking about a 1.1 degree change over a hundred years I stop listening. Does anyone really believe the measurements are that accurate?

My bumper sticker says, "Global Warming is Sun-Made" ... My other one says, with a flag in the background, "...for which it Stood" with the O's being the Obama symbol. I take my bumper stickers seriously...I make my own and they deal with FACTS.
I always wondered why it is warmer when the sun is out during the day and cooler at night? Duh! But at last the UN has researched this and now we know why. So my bumper sticker is dead on fact now verified by the United Nations. I'm so proud!
I can't believe my tax dollars were used in this research, they could have read my bumper sticker for "free."

Over the last 30 years of global warming, the sun has shown a slight cooling trend. Sun and climate are going in opposite directions. This has led a number of scientists independently concluding that the sun cannot be the cause of recent global warming.
One of the most common and persistent climate myths is that the sun is the cause. This argument is made by cherry picking the data - showing past periods when sun and climate move together but ignoring the last few decades when the two diverge.
Figure 1: Global temperature (red, NASA GISS) and Total solar irradiance (blue, 1880 to 1978 from Solanki, 1979 to 2009 from PMOD).
To: Islander7
the sun may play a larger role than previously thought.
This is shocking news. Governments of the world must contribute all effort and treasure immediately to find a way to move the sun before it’s too late.
This is going to be very expensive folks.

"This argument is made by cherry picking the data " And you're not cherry picking the data?. I generally ignore any charts with a suppressed zero. Both lines on your chart have a suppressed zero. I am also highly skeptical of any data from NASA GISS. Their history of altering history is well known. See this chart from JoNova showing a complete REVERSAL in historical data: http://jonova.s3.amazonaws.com/graphs/giss/hansen-giss-1940-1980.gif

Thanks! I hope I find I want to stick around, too.

If having a suppressed zero just means the non-inclusion of irrelevant leading zeroes, as per the wikipedia article on "zero suppression", I don't see the problem. If it means something else, perhaps you could let me know what that is.
I am also highly skeptical of any data from NASA GISS
OK, propose an alternate source of data on temperatures and solar irradiance for the last century, and we can see if it contradicts the claim that solar irradiance and global temperatures are not moving in sync. I certainly don't mean to cherry-pick the data, just to use whatever is available and accurate to arrive at the truth.

On the local news, when they show the high and low temperatures for the day, they also show the record high and low temp. Very often the record temps are from 50-60 years ago and there is sometimes a 20+ degree difference in both. Where was Alwhore then?
And speaking of Al, watching him defending to selling out to Al Jazzera reminds me of George Costanza. “It isn’t a lie if you believe it.”
To: lesslucid; norwaypinesavage
suppressed zero = suppressed origin in cartesian coordinates (the “O” where the x and y axes meet).
This leads to a visual distortion (often intended) of the data.
On a proper scale that divergence in your plot would hardly be visible.
(Thanks NPS, btw, for pointing this out - I’ve done so a few times and received some very weird responses...*sigh*)

Many years ago when I first heard of AGW I looked into it. I discovered that the energy output of the Sun was concidered a constant by the models predicting warming. That was when I decided AGW science was junk science.
