Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) confronted former Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel with a clip from his 2009 interview with Al Jazeera during today's Defense Secretary confirmation hearing.

The Secretary of Defense nominee can be heard agreeing with a caller's assertion that the United States is the "world's bully."

Texan here. Just anecdotal, but I got ten to twelve rather fair-weather Republican voters to show up at the primary and vote for Cruz, based entirely on Palin’s endorsement. They were not going to bother with voting in the primary up until I informed them about this.

Cruz is harder for the lefties to take on, in part because of his formal education. Palin doesn’t have that going for her. But she is the best stump speaker I have ever heard and has the common touch. Each of them is unafraid to confront the left, and Cruz owes nothing to nobody in Texas except the people who voted for him and maybe his Dad. Cruz is a chip off the old block, because his Dad is just as smart.

Hagel, like most congresscritters, just wants to keep his job and retire with all the perks and privileges that are denied to the common citizen.

That whole congressional system needs a total makeover i.e. term limits.
