From the beginning of this insanity I’ve asked, “Why not pepper spray and/or taser?” Under lock and key within reach of trusted, and trained, administrators/teachers.

RE :”
If you are caught out in the open and cannot conceal yourself or take cover, you might consider trying to overpower the shooter with whatever means are available, says the narrator in the video, which shows an office worker pulling scissors out of a desk drawerThe video, titled Options for Consideration, also advises that people who get caught in an active shooter situation should run away, hide under a desk or take cover out of the line of fire” Gabby says it OK to use scissors to defend yourself!

Great advice. DHS can now cancel those big expensive orders for guns & ammo and buy truck loads of scissors. Hey, if its OK for us then it should be OK for them.

Big Sis also reminds us all, as a matters of Homeland Security, to never run with a pair of scissors, even when running away from a terrorist.

I think it a great idea, arm ALL Department of Homeland Security personnel with only sissors.
Be great to see them all take their sissors to gun fights.
Idiots.
To: onyx
Well at least the weenies have to admit you have no choice but to fight back.
Their advice for fighting back needs a little work though...

Will ‘high-capacity’ desk drawers capable of holding more than 7 pairs of scissors be banned?
Time to arm ourselves with assault hedge-clippers!!
To: onyx
Nobody NEEDS a pair of pointy sharp scissors.
I'm OK with legitimate scissors for the crafting sports, but there is no room for high capacity 12” shears in the workplace.
And we need to close the garage sale loophole, where just anyone off the street can grab a Fiskars 12-9653 6984 Titanium Nitride 12” Shop Shears. You don't need Titanium Nitride shears to open a packet of cocoa.
This isn't about controlling scissors, its about safety. Countless children find scissors just setting in a drawer or laying out in the open, and then they hold the upright and run with them.
