A resolution designating February 12, 2013, as Darwin Day, has been introduced into the United States House of Representatives.
The proposed resolution would be a recognition of Charles Darwin as a worthy symbol on which to celebrate the achievements of reason, science, and the advancement of human knowledge."
The Darwin Day resolution was introduced by Rep. Rush Holt (D-NJ) on Jan. 22, 2013. Holt, one of the few members of Congress with a Ph.D. in a scientific field, is the sole sponsor of the bill. After its introduction, the resolution, H. Res. 41, was referred to the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.
The resolution:
Roy Speckhardt, Executive Director of the American Humanist Association, sent out a letter in support of the resolution.

See, the resolution is hardly about Darwin. Not when you toss in the bullcrap junk science of global warming - which isto be ‘protected’ from those that don’t drink the kool-aid, and then attacks people who believe in intelligent design.
Sorry, topping the atheist sundae is the fact they link into the American Humanist Association. This is all just a shove it in your face attempt. Hopefully falls flat on their face. It’s all about slamming the Christians. Darwin gave them a phony foundation that undermined millions of peoples’ faith, professors today say their main goals is to destroy the faith of students in their classes, and the Humanist movement has always been aimed at taking Christianity down, never a good word about it, never doing anything without taking a swipe at the Christians.
If they were genuinely serious, they have many, many better people they could have picked to have a scientific day for.
My candidate for the Darwin Day Award?
The Republicans who support amnesty, thereby guaranteeing their own demise as a political party.
That I would like!
I love Doris Day and Rock Hudson
We actually pay these loafers for this?
They were married, you know. After she became a virgin.
Holt and his cohort phd’ers are clueless doofus’s even within their fields.
Darwin Day? Really? How about Marx Day next then? OK? Then Stalin Day, and after that, Hitler Day? Yeah! And let’s not forget the aborted baby day? We’ll just slip it into where Mother’s Day used to be:)
June 28 Felicia Day
Maybe if Darwin was American, at least, but this seems more unnecessary than anything else. Are we going to honor every great scientist from Aristotle on forward?
“how about a compelling explanation for the appearance of life”
Be a good sport. That’s like saying to Edison, “Nice lightbulb, Tommy. Now get off your ass and invent the perpetual motion machine, you lazy bastard!”
Ah yes, Charles Darwin. One of the super-rich. No wonder he wanted the “disfavored races” kept down - and even manufactured a scientific basis to justify it.
RE: I love Doris Day and Rock Hudson
Speaking of Rock Hudson, did he ever have the urge to propagate his kind?
If a new holy day is going to be fabricated, can it at least be set during a time that it doesn't conflict with Mardi Gras? I hate saying "have a happy holiday season".
Might as well include a resolution to protect all that green cheese on the moon we have called The Moon.
Well, he DID try to make a little Rock Pyle.
I’d prefer an Einstein day - at least he became a US citizen ehh?
Or better yet how about an Isaac Newton day?
Wonder if anyone else notices other US holidays are in honor of US namesakes at least...
“Darwin Day”
The Day God was kicked out of America, and Satan invited in- Man’s word is now infallible, while God’s word becoem fallible (IE: “God wasn’t really serious or literal when He talked abotu creating everythign in just six days- He ‘really meant’ millions of years” ... Thus saith the ‘gods’ who claim to ‘believe in God’ yet who tear His word to shreds-
Here we have a record of the world from someone who WAS there in the beginning, but apparentyl we’re suppsoed to ignore His word and beleive the words of someoen who WAS NOT there in the beginning? All Hail Darwin!
