Senator John Kerry (D-MA) is likely to be confirmed today as the next Secretary of State after sailing through a Senate hearing last week. What does this mean for America and its foreign policy?
As Heritages Helle Dale wrote after last weeks hearing:
The bad news for the United States is that Kerry is President Obamas ideological twin and can be expected to enthusiastically embrace the Obama doctrine and continue the Administrations pursuit of arms control, international treaties, and climate-change agreements. This is a classic liberal agenda, which will only lead to a further erosion of American global leadership.
Though Kerry talked tough on Iran, The Wall Street Journal described Kerrys stance as a vision to wind down Americas military operations in the Islamic world and to pursue a foreign policy more driven by aid, economics and environmental issues.
Kerry, a former presidential candidate who served in Vietnam and then protested the war, has chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committeethe committee where his confirmation hearings take placesince 2009. He has been a Senator since 1985. Some of his key positions:
He has stated that when the U.S. undertakes military action, it must first pass a global test.
He has been a cheerleader for various international treaties, such as the Law of the Sea Treaty and the Arms Trade Treaty, that infringe on U.S. sovereignty.
He is one of the greatest supporters of President Obamas reset policy with Russia.
He has supported the idea of fruitful talks between the U.S. and North Korea.
His Senate colleagues have failed to press Kerry on any meaningful issues, which is unsurprising but still a negative for the country and U.S. allies.
The Secretary of States priorities should be defending American sovereignty, promoting economic freedom, and restoring American leadership in the world. Kerrys track record and his fidelity to Obamas worldview give us little hope for those priorities.
Why this most evil of administrations keep bringing in the worst of the worst I don't get, good ridience to Hilary, although they just slobbered all over her telling her what a great job she did. Things can't get much worse than they are now, but I'm sure kerry will really try hard to please the progressives and Bronco Bama failing our nation miserably, then they'll tell him what a great job he's done.
I don’t blame Obama for John Kerry becoming Secretary of State.
97 Senators voted for the Traitor. Only 3 against him.
How can you blame Obama for that?
Certainly Obama is the worst President to ever have the job, but ,got damn, folks lets look at this sh*tty Congress that follows him around sucking his butt.
This vote alone tell me I no longer want to be a Republican, they ones we have elected are no better than Democrats.
We will never have a two party system as long as these Republicans who voted for John Kerry almost unanimously are in office.
If your objective is the destruction of America, it makes sense to select someone who’s been at it longer than you have.
What have we come to? Fake war hero, traitor, assassination plotter, fake Irishman, totally ineffectual senator, failed presidential candidate wins near unanimous approval as SecState?
To be fair, Kerry is nowhere near as bad as Obama. Kerry may be an anti-American traitor, but I don’t believe his motives are as malicious as those of the communist in our White House.
But he his, as you point out, an anti-American traitor.
You forgot ketchup-faced gigolo.
Yeah, I don’t think Kerry has the visceral hatred for the founding principals of America that 0bama has.
Everyone he appoints to anything is his ideological twin. Throw a penny in modern America and you are sure to hit a communist. Throw one in Washington, DC and you’ll hit two. Not like finding Obama’s ideological twin is a difficult task, sadly.
I did. I realized as soon as I hit the post button.
Let's not forget that he is the richest guy in the Senate because he's the gigolo to a gold-digging skank living off a dead Republicans millions. Kind of sums up socialism in one family unit, don't it?
I think he found Carter’s twin....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKBdP2D3pqI
Two committed communists who hate this country. Both in high government positions. It’s a testament to the founders of this country that it has survived as long as it has.
McCain backs the gift of F-16s and 200 Abrams tanks to the MuzBroHood as well as leading the vote for this no good piece of $$$$, in one week.
Kerry is not the problem, he is the symptom, McCain s are the problem.
I was talking to friends today and more than a few of them are talking of leaving the party.
