COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Police have arrested a Colerain man after he posted a photo of himself on Facebook holding his 1-year-old daughter and a BB gun.
Domonic Gaines, 22, was arrested after the incident which occurred at his home on Suliner Drive Sunday.
According to reports, police initially believed that Gaines was holding a handgun in the photo. However, police say the gun in question turned out to be a BB gun.
The photo depicted Gaines holding his daughter, Paradise Gaines, along with the BB gun. Police say that the close proximity of the gun to the child created a substantial risk of physical harm.
Police say they found the BB gun at the residence after the arrest was made.
"It's really been blown out of proportion," said Gaines' father, Wilson Dykes.
Dykes claims that it was the baby's maternal grandmother who saw the photo and called the police.
Gaines was arraigned on Monday morning on Child Endangerment charges. He's being held without bond in the Hamilton County Jail.

In the city where I live, BB guns and pellet guns are banned by city ordinance.
these grandmothers are pieces of work.
When I was about 5, my dad bought me a set of gunfighter drawing pistols, cap guns actually, and holsters on each side of a gun belt. Cost him the better part of a weeks pay (1950). I bet he is rolling over in his grave right now seeing something like this.
Our family picture books have me holding all sorts of firearms when I was a lad too as he was teaching me how to hunt and shoot. If one of these F......g anti gun morons got ahold of those albums, they would probably move to dig him up and burn him at some stake. Actually, if they want to view those albums for that purpose, come and get them boys, bring a lot of help to carry you all out.
Interesting... “held without bond”. Assume there must be some priors in his file.
A liberal cousin of mine, a particularly nasty one, was complaining about a cop’s behavior. I told her that he was just a government employee doing his job. Her response? “This conversation is over.”
I replied, “You opened it up.”
She replied, “I’m closing it.” And she actually has some people convinced that she’s smart.
This “incident” and arrest is both ridiculous and scary. Now our private lives are being monitored by the politically correct police. I consider this incident to be an abuse of police power, especially their liberal interpretation of child endangerment. This is the America I fear and exactly what our Founding Fathers were trying to protect us against. If he’s convicted, this will set a further precedent against guns and personal privacy and lead to more legislation requiring homes with children to be “gun free” zones.
Or perhaps she is a wise grandmother that is well aware of exactly what an utter twit the boy can be.
It is distinctly possible that there is well founded concern that he can’t be trusted with chopsticks much less a baby and a gun.
Who does it benefit to assume malicious interference without clear knowledge of why she did it?
If the gun, BB or any other type was pointed at the kids head and posted as “evidence” on face book then I would say the child was indangered by its F’ed up parent.
If you dont see it that way I would say, sorry, but our value system varies a bit
WOW. criminal what the police think is a crime.
One reason I DON’T have Facebook.
My kids have been around guns since they were toddlers. They are all over 21 now. Teach ‘em safety early, I say. I know I have some pictures that the prosecutor or police in the article would have me arrested.
When did we lose America?
Come on they are just following the offical story.
Yep must protect the pension.
Hey no questioning the masters. /s

They’ll give bail to rapists, but not this guy who posted a photo.
Racist much, Colerain Township?
“close proximity” is now a crime? So if the guy had been holding a knife,,then what? A book of matches,,then what? A cigarette, then what?
...Wilson Dykes...
I wonder if his mother is a judge named “Gladys”...
I’m amazed at how many new contrived “laws” have sprung up in order to create an entire class of criminals.
Hey, lots of kids get killed in car accidents every year. So by their “logic” anyone that has their child in close proximity to a car or truck ought to be similarly arrested.
