The Department of Homeland Security is seeking to acquire 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO personal defense weapons (PDW) also known as assault weapons when owned by civilians. The solicitation, originally posted on June 7, 2012, comes to light as the Obama administration is calling for a ban on semi-automatic rifles and high capacity magazines.
Citing a General Service Administration (GSA) request for proposal (RFP), Steve McGough of RadioViceOnline.com reports that DHS is asking for the 7,000 select-fire firearms because they are suitable for personal defense use in close quarters. The term select-fire means the weapon can be both semi-automatic and automatic. Civilians are prohibited from obtaining these kinds of weapons

I’m aware of all this however the point is if you want a full auto you can get one.
Personally I prefer a semi auto as it requires you to be a rifleman. The key is one shot one kill. Spray and pray is for the bros in the Hood.
“Memory is short. Do you remember the outcome of the federal assault on the Branch Davidians? (Waco Texas) “
Yes, but the Branch Davidians had not seen the TV coverage or the video.
We have.
Perhaps, but the three shot burst is something that all major military arms manufacturers are producing for the various armies around the world. They must think there is somethimg to it. AN-94
H&K three round trigger group
I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how this could possibly be negative.
1. They are purchasing what THEY call a PDW (personal defense weapon).
2. They are purchasing THOUSANDS of ADDITIONAL PDWs.
3. Miller and Miller as discussed in Heller state that the government cannot ban weapons that are in common use for lawful purposes at the time.
4. The courts are currently on our side.
Ban them. Go to court. The ruling may well overturn current bans on the production and importation of certain weapons for sale to non-police civilians (as if there should be two sets of laws for the two groups).
Currently, weapons that are not “dangerous and unusual” weapons ARE banned. Why are we all on the defensive, all tied up in knots fretting the future?
Actually, the Branch Davidians could have wiped out the BATF goons that first day.
Fortunately for the Jack Boots, (and unfortunately for the murdered kids) the Davidians allowed the BATF to withdraw when they RAN OUT OF AMMO.
Had the Davidians been able to comprehend what the government troops had in mind for them, they should have gone out with their rifles and killed every last one of them.
Anyone stupid enough (after witnessing Waco) to trust this government to treat you well after laying siege deserves what the bad guys dish out.
I doubt there will be any more 'free' Wacos.

For suppressive fire without everybody running dry in 1.2 seconds. Riflemen still use their weapons in semi auto for real work.
Yes but aren’t they produced on the same manufacturing line?
“Yes but arent they produced on the same manufacturing line?”
I dont see why they couldn’t be.
So if the company had to convert the assembly line to build all these weapons, they wouldn’t have the line to produce other weapons. Plus the parts, etc.
Lets just remember that its likely the military will refuse to come after us. That is why the DHS is getting those weapons. They are not the military or anywhere near it. Putting on a black tactical uniform and a helmet does not a soldier make. Most of them would cut and run at the first sign of serious trouble. They are not going to be a bunch of sharpshooters either.
Serious mistake to underestimate the enemy. ASSUME that they are going to be really good and prepare for that.
If it comes right down to it I suspect there will be a lot of those 7,000 full auto weapons available to the public. Only dropped on the ground one time. :-)
Were much of a threat either ... until Tet '68.
You need to be able to welcome the confiscation squads with open arms
