Random checks happen at stations across country. Passengers catching the 9:30 a.m. Amtrak train from Austin to Dallas were met with an unexpected surprise when they got to the station.
Transportation Security Administration agents, Austin police officers, and the Department of Homeland Security were all waiting for them.

Random security checks are voluntary
...
The random check takes about 10-15 minutes and happens hundreds of times a day at bus, train, and subway stations across the country.

people are more readily controlled when they don’t wander very far from where they’re made to live.
What did the Nazi’s say? . . . “show me your papers”.
What did the Nazis say? . . . show me your papers.
Exactly what I was thinking. So...you vill show me your papuhs olt mann!
Why, that's probable cause!
I assume they are ‘voluntary’ like filing your income taxes is ‘voluntary’.
They probably arent allowed on the train without the voluntary check.
Not probably allowed. Definitely not allowed.
Check this out from Amtrak’s website:
Amtrak, along with the Amtrak Police Department, has a range of behind-the-scenes and front-line security measures in place to ensure passenger rail security.
Among these security measures, some of which are conducted on an unpredictable or random basis, passengers may notice any of the following in stations or onboard trains:
Uniformed police officers and Special Operations Units
Random passenger and carry-on baggage screening and inspection*
K-9 units
Checked baggage screening
Onboard security checks
Identification checks
*With due respect to passengers’ privacy, the random screening and inspection of passengers and their personal items will be completed as quickly as possible - usually in less than a minute. Passengers failing to consent to security procedures will be denied access to trains and refused carriage, and a refund will be offered.
ROFLMBO! 'Voluntary' security checks are about as useful as unscented cologne!
All the more reason to drive.
” What happens if you decline to be “checked”? “
You go home, rather than to the camps, at this stage.
sorry to inform ya, but thats already old news...
all those who cheerleaded for 'sobriety' checkpoints, 'seatbelt' checkpoints, 'insurance' checkpoints have helped pave the way for the fed goon squad to bring out the mandatory 'safety' checkpoints, which undoubtedly will be manned by guys in blast/bullet resistant pods backed by heavy machine guns...
aint freedom great ???
seems i read once about a guy named 'fritz' at one of these lil parties on the side of the road...
I’m sure I read that the plan was to extend it to highways. I’m sure they’ll speed that up now to aid in gun control. Some places are already outlawing smoking in your car (your private property).
I was telling a liberal co-worker that I still don’t think its government’s business if I personally don’t wear a seat belt. He argues it is because of healthcare. I told him that I should have the freedom to do ill advised things if the only person that would suffer the consequences were me, I never asked him to concern himself with my health.
Be careful what you wish for. In 1934 the Treasury Department had to find something for all those “Revenooers” to do after prohibition ended. Since no government agency seems capable of simply firing excess employees, the ATF was created and look what it has morphed into.
If TSA had to be re-assigned, there’s no telling what we’d get. And remember those billions of hollow-point .40 cal? I doubt they’d simply be returned to the manufacturers. No, they’re intended for the taxpayers - one way or another.
Coming soon to a highway intersection near you.
