The deadline for New York Times newsroom managers to take voluntary buyouts came and went yesterday without reaching the target of 30 takers.
Now, insiders are worried that involuntary cuts layoffs will start.
Jill Abramson, the executive editor overseeing the process, declined to comment yesterday as the deadline passed but several insiders worried that as few as a dozen raised their hands and volunteered meaning up to 18 heads must roll.

Imagine the panic if Trump actually bought the NY Times?
hee hee hee
Or someone like T Boone Pickens. That would be a real hoot.
1/2 of the staff would have and immediate coronary.

If it wasn't for the homeless needing something to sleep on, NYT would not have much circulation left.

I keep hoping I will wake up some morning and read that the Slimes has been shuttered due to bankruptcy. And Pinch has been murdered by the rest of the Sultzbergers for trashing their money pit.

The inability to criticize the President is really hurting the media business. When Clinton was around, the media focused on Gingrich as the big bad boogyman but they haven’t found any traction with the current Republicans. They have also surrendered any allusions to being non-partisan so people see no need to read the news anymore.

All the New York Times needs is one computer to receive White House press releases. And one minority woman to sit at the computer to cut and paste the text into the newspaper layout. Guess they’ll need a few minority women to run the press and drive the trucks, too. But they can be part-timers and freelancers.

One of which will be a taxpayer bailout for dinosaur mainstream journalism. Soon. Mark my words. A few years ago I would have agreed with you. Not now - it's different. Obama and friends are going after the 2nd Amendment - the 1st will be next.
The MSM voluntarily decided to act like a Dem State-run operation - they could flip. That's the threat...
