Senators may be nearing an end to their partisan dispute over curbing unlimited delays called filibusters.
Senate aides say lawmakers could compromise as soon as Thursday on modest limits on filibusters, which a party in the minority uses to kill legislation.

GOPe caved again, I bet
Of that, you can bet the farm, My FRiend. If any caving was done, it was the Republicans doing it.
Will the Doormat RINOs Cave-In again? No pay for RINOs that Cave!
Why would the Republicans, as the minority in the Senate, even entertain the thought of limiting one of the few powers they have to keep the American public from being steamrolled with bad, socialist, big government legislation?
Maybe the establishment GOP approve of said bad, socialist, big government legislation, and to the point where they are deliberately removing obstacles to its implementation.
Because they are spineless cowards that do not have any real objections to such big, bad, socialist legislation?
Nadless Mitch needs to go!
And that, my friends, is how the complete destruction of the Republic came to be.
It’s just a few tweaks - - the general filibuster rule stands.
It will be interesting, however, to see what the Republicans extracted from the scumbags in return. It is possible, too, that whatever the Republicans got is something they don’t want to reveal - - something like a promise from the rats that they won’t fund a rat candidate who is after some Republican’s seat. Something like that. It is a filthy business.
It’s ok. Anything restrictive on filibusters will be removed in the lame duck session if conservatives ever win again.
The spineless strike again?
The current filibuster protects moderates of both parties (purple states) when the opposite party controls the Senate. They have the most to lose if the Senate changes hands to the other side once the filibuster is gone.
Who ever controls the Senate can put up bills to kill the moderates of the opposite party and the current filibuster allows easy blocking of most bills without votes.
Get this, tonight I heard Bernie Sanders call gutting the filibuster ‘the constitutional option’
But that is exactly what Levin called it when he demanded the R Senate do it for judges in 2006. Its in his book on Judges
Idiot Republicans will never learn. I’m sure AFTER the GOP caves and hands Obama/Reid everything they want (Amnesty/Gun Control) the Senate Dems will still end the filibuster!
I remember in 2006 Levin calling for taking ‘the constitutional option ’ of getting rid of the filibuster for judges and he called that filibuster ‘unconstitutional’(this is in his book too) . Her cursed the gang of 14 for that compromise.
Of course 3 years later 2009 it is O selecting judges with his Dem Senate and Levin is calling for guess what, Republican filibuster, the 'unconstitutional option'.
This is when I realized that all his big talk about putting ‘the constitution’ before everything was just more talk radio show.
I do not even think they are even caving anymore. Kinda like backing a horse into a starting gate at a horse race. Opening the gate and running the wrong way.
Sheesh, they do not even try to even act like they are trying to put up a fight.
Give a brand new image of “compromise” in my eyes...
They do have us all conned into thinking they have the answers and provide leadership, don't they? All of them.
Maybe all of them but not all of us.
I was once enthused about Rush's words (in the 1990s) and way later ~ 2005 I thought Levin was something special when he first went national(I bought and read his book on the Judges) , after all he was ‘defending the constitution’.
But I have a very good memory and I started noticing all the contradictions piling up.
Plus some of the stuff they say is just wrong like much of the advice they give the GOP.
In fact they have both business and personal incentives to have the national GOP lose all power (as in 2009/2010) and be despised by most Americans, it just proves they are were ‘right’ ('I told you the left and the MSM would brain wash all those other Americans against us') and it gins up more listeners and followers who need to live in the imaginary world they create.
In 2002 or there abouts the undistinguished Senator from Mississippi and Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott was talking about the “Nuclear Option” and backed down. After the Democrats wined (”wined”, a typo that is actually correct) and cried, just as the GOP is now.
Lott was also the Undistinguished Majority Leader that figured, “to be fair he would share the majority with the Democrats.
