Via Yonhap:

(Note: statement likely made before latest threat from North Korea)

A U.S. special envoy warned North Korea Thursday against conducting a possible nuclear test, a day after Pyongyang hinted that it might push ahead with a nuclear test to retaliate against the U.N. Security Council resolution.

"Whether North Korea tests or not, it's up to North Korea. We hope they don't do it, we call on them not to do it. It will be a mistake and a missed opportunity if they were to do it," said Glyn Davies, the U.S. special envoy on North Korea policy, when asked about the possibility of a nuclear test by North Korea.

"This is not a moment to increase tensions on the Korean Peninsula. This is the opportunity (for North Korea) to seize the moment" to engage with the outside world, Davies said.

Fuller version of statement via NPR:

SNIP

"In the new phase of our century-long struggle against the United States, we do not hide the fact that various satellites, long-range missiles that we will continue to launch and high-level nuclear test we will conduct will target our sworn enemy, the United States," said a statement from the North's National Defense Commission.

After the hearings today, I hope they have good intel on this EMP threat from North Korea. We're talking about the grid here. . "What difference does it make" is not going to cut it. .

We should have several missiles aimed at their launch pad to take it out before it gets lift off. They have given suitable provocation to do so. No more mister nice guy!

The biggest problem here is the well-known fact North Korea and Iran have been cooperating on nuclear research. A successful large yield test has ramifications reaching far beyond that Asian peninsula.

When one recognizes ICBMs are on the way, IF Americans were told, one would have 25 to 35 minutes or less depending on location of launch. oops ... due to the length of this post ... less time. Just kidding ... know of none on the way yet.

As long as he was in Air Force 1 at the time I doubt Obama would give 2 shits if someone dropped a nuke or two on our cities.

NK, Russia, Iran... they all sense a weakness in U.S. leadership like no other time in history.

Mean while, in Sodom on the Potomac, Ayatollah Obama announced that the US military were preparing bottle rockets from the local Wild Bill’s Fireworks Shop for use in shooting down these missiles. The Ayatollah further announced cuts in the US defense budget, cutting troops, planes, ships, and weapons. Obama says that he is determined to completely do away with the US military by 2014 if not sooner. We simply don’t need a military anymore the Ayatollah stated. A total waste of money. We have more need for social payments than a defense budget.
